PC "freezes" after disconnecting/shutting off XBox One Controller (Win 10) + ...

Hi guys,

since yesterday (it might be the last Windows Update?!) my PC kind of "freezes" after disconnecting either the Xbox One Wireless Controller or the Elite Controller I have. Before it worked flawlessly over a month.

Shortly after I disconnect the controller (either by longpressing the XB Button or taking out the batteries) my PC becomes mostly unresponsive. I can still use the keyboard to navigate through menus (e.g. task manager) but I cannot shut anything down via
the shortcuts.

If I move my mouse (or click it) I get a "beep" in my headphones. The only way to get rid of this is a hard reset of the PC (even if I use the keyboard to navigate to "shutdown/reboot" and trigger the reboot from there the PC just stays on "Rebooting..."
until I hard reset it.)

Was there any software update? This is super annoying to the point I don't even wanna play games with the controller anymore... Does anybody else have this problem? How can I fix this? I already tried reinstalling the driver.

XBox One Wireless Adapter Driver (BSOD)

Bought the dongle this week and BSOD mt7612us.sys every time very shortly after starting to stream from XBONE. Controller works perfectly hard wired. The PC is Win 10 32bit. Updated the firmware on the controller, the mediatek update on the PC and the wireless
adapter driver update but still BSOD. It is not interference. The wireless adapter works fine on my other Win 10 PC, which is a 6 month old 64bit machine but I didn't buy it for this one. Not happy!

I am seeing the same issue on Windows 10. After shutting off my PC, I have to re-sync my wireless adapter with my XboxOne controller. In fact, I have to disconnect the wireless adapter from the USB port and reconnect for it to sync up. As OP said, controller
does work fine when it is synced.

(At first I thought it was an USB port issue, but all my other devices: mouse, Steam controller, PS4 wireless headset, all work perfectly fine in the various ports.)

This has to be some issue with the latest WinUpdate/Controller driver...

 

Are you using a nvidia graphic card? the only change that i did to my pc was updating the display driver and that s when i had the problem occur

 

Yes I have an NVIDIA card... My cousin (he has the same problem as well) is using one as well. I'm gonna ask the guy in the other thread!

 

I have the same issue and a nvidia card and I just updated my drivers too.

I have the same issue, been using Xbox One controller for months since wireless dongle launched, but since Far Cry Primal got released last month. Got this issue ALL the time, tried everything until I decided to go nuclear option. Resettled my Windows 10.
Clean install, and reinstall everything else.

Absolutely furious to find myself in exact same position, I now permanently tried USELESS Xbox One Wireless Dongle and Xbox One Controller and instead revert to reliable X360 controller. The joke going round is that unofficial driver for PS4 controller on
PC is far more reliable than MS's Xbox One on MS's Windows 10.

I haven't yet see a official acknowledgement of the issue or that it's going to be fixed.

 

There is a lot of people with this problem. The only thing you can do for now is disable XINPUT when you finish to play a game until microsoft resolve this issue.

 

I have the same problem, with the wireless dongle too. If I finish playing and let the controller idle the computer freezes the moment the controller falls to hybernation. I believe that it is a new thing and it is caused by a driver. If I stop playing
and watch a film the film doesn't freeze. Which is really bizarre. My usb plugged bluetooth mouse and keyboard and all the usb ports freeze. Funny thing is that my bluetooth headset will keep working. So i can watch my film and when it finishes i realise
that nothing moves and all the usb ports do not function. I tried to plug a wired mouse to see if i can go back to desktop but no.

I have a Titan black - 4930k cpu on asus rampage gene iv motherboard. and latest version of windows 10 and all drivers.

 

This bug seems to have appeared after the March 1 KB3140743 and KB3139907 updates for Windows 10 Ver 1511 and still causes the crash. Uninstalling KB3140743 update will probably help...

 

Me too. Almost every time I unplug in my Xbox controller, my laptop freezes and mouse doesn't work. And I even can't shut down my laptop= =
