PC Forza Horizon 5 installation deletes on start-up

So, I've had a problem with FH5 for a good while now, and it's taken me a lot of digging to find when and what issue is actually the problem.

If I load the XBOX app, the game is there ready to launch, if I click it, it just opens the Gaming Service in the Microsoft Store.

If I go in the settings app and the apps section and then to FH5 and click repair, nothing happens. If I do the same but click Reset, then I have to redownload the game, but the game simply 'resets' seeing my existing installation and the 100+GB game doesn't download anything, but doesn't complete either, I get the error 0x87e00017

If I go to manage the game within the XBOX app, and click 'verify and repair' then the WHOLE game downloads and I can play... not an ideal solution on a 40mbps line!

I have discovered that when I load my PC and go to play the game, the game details state that the 100+GB is installed, but if I go to the installation folder itself, there's only about 700MB in there and the 'content' folder is completely empty. this changes to the full 100+GB once a repair and full download has completed.

As long as I don't turn off my PC, I can open and close the game as many times as I want. If I shut down my PC, the next time it boots, I will be starting from scratch with no data in the 'content' folder of the game and the 'last modified' timestamp on that folder is when windows boots.

I'm at a complete loss as to what on earth would cause this issue. It was not a problem initially, I'd say my problems with the game first started maybe 2 months ago but been playing since launch...

Have you tried installing the game on a different path?

Seems like you have settings to delete the files on that folder after the restart or you selected a temporary file path to install the game this can happen if the PC it's an organization Pc

Please let me know if installing the game to a different location fixes the situation

It's not an organization PC, it's personal...

all of my Xbox games are installed to the same directory from the Xbox app (apart from those that don't allow a custom install path) and Forza is the only one having this issue.

I'm currently downloading it AGAIN and I'll see what happens installing it onto a different drive completely

Yes. Other games are OK.

Forza horizon 4 is OK too. But I bought it.

And Forza horizon 5 uses Game Pass.

I can start Forza 5 on my PC, can not start on Xbox serious S.
