PC does not display Xbox as Wireless display device

    Hi all,
I installed the Wireless Display App on my Xbox Series X (XBSX). The app says it’s ready to connect.
On my Win10 PC (10.0.19041 build 19041), I’ve added the XBSX via the "Bluetooth or Other Devices" menu under Windows Control Panel. On the PC, the XBSX is listed under “Other Devices...”.

Note: when adding the Xbox via the "Add a Device" screen, it was only detected when I choose the "Everything else..." option. I was assuming I would see it appear when I chose "Wireless display or dock".

The Windows Xbox Companion app detects the Xbox with the name I’ve given it in the Xbox’s settings.
Via the Windows Xbox Companion app I can:
    1. Power the Xbox on/off from the PC.
    2. See the app/game currently active on my XBSX.

On XBSX or PC, I cannot:
    1. Stream the Xbox video output to the PC
    2. Locate the Xbox from the Win 10 Connect panel (Win + P)
    3. When viewing the Wireless Display app on the XBSX, I do not see the PC listed as an allowable device (nor is it in the blocked list).
    I have tried:
    1. Completely powering down both PC and Xbox
    2. Renaming Xbox, powering down/rebooting
    3. Removing the device from Windows devices list, and re-connecting
    4. Removing Xbox from XB Companion app and re-connecting.
    5. Confirmed my XB now allows connections from any device (previously was set to same account).
    Assumptions:
    1. Even though I can access the XB power options via companion app, maybe it’s something with my Google Mesh WiFi setup? Both PC and XB on same network but connected to different beacons. Probably not the issue, but maybe *shrug*...
    2. The issue is possibly on the Windows side, because the XBSX does not appear in the Connect panel as a wireless display (I see no way of indicating if the Xbox can.
Not sure what I am doing wrong or what to try next. Any helps is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    :)

    Xbox one

So the answer is yes. The term "Wireless display" is sort of a misnomer. The display isn't actually wireless, it's more like Remote Desktop, where you're controlling the PC on a different device without the display DIRECTLY (where the wireless part comes
    in) connected to the device.

So this article loosely outlines how it works. You'll need the Wireless Display app installed on the PC and the
Xbox One, and they'll need to be connected to the same local network. You'll connect the two in the app, and then control the PC via the app. A mouse and keyboard hooked up to the Xbox One are the best methods for controlling that, but you could put your
PC in Big Picture mode if you want to control it more easily that way.

It's more like reverse streaming via the Xbox App, but using the Wireless Display app, so it won't be a wireless display, per se, but it will need to be wired to your Xbox.

Let us know if you have any problems or questions in trying to get that set up, and we'll be happy to help!

Unable to project PC to Xbox series x using wireless display

    Hello George C.

I have tested the above and had no luck. The closet I get is I connect both PC and Xbox Series X to the same WIFI (with both network cables unplugged) and I can see the XBOX as a wireless display to cast my PC. however, it attempts to connect, and the screen blinks and immediately says disconnected.

I have now been able to connect to the XBOX with my laptop, but still not able to connect through my PC.

My PC is showing as a wireless display capable device in the Drivers command "Wireless Display Supported: Yes (Graphics Driver: Yes, Wi-Fi Driver: Yes)"

I have further uninstalled Norton antivirus from my PC and reverted to windows antivirus.

surely I cannot be the only one with this issue?

I see that this post has the same issue, but the thread is now locked
