PC detects Xbox 360 wired controller as player 2

When I connect the xbox 360 wired controller to my pc, it detects it as player 2. Because of that I can't play some games like GTA V. I have reinstalled drivers but it doesn't work at all in those games. Fifa detects it as player 2, but I can play with that,
in GTA V I have to play with mouse and keyboard which is horrible. I need a solution for this, I have been looking for solution since I saw this issue, like a month ago, but I didn't find anything. Could you help me, please?

Xbox 360 wired controller with windows 10

In addition to the instructions from XBF Chris J, make sure that you really have a wired Xbox 360 controller, and not a wireless Xbox 360 controller that you connect with a Play & Charge kit cable.

A real Xbox 360 controller that works with PC has a fixed, non-removable cable. If you can unplug the cable from the front of the controller, that cable ONLY transmits power to charge the controller.

No controller data can be transmitted via that charging cable, and therefore the PC can not detect it. But when the controller detects power coming through that cable, it vibrates shortly. Maybe it's that why the controller "only" vibrates, but is not detected
by the PC.

You can't, however you can use a WIRED Xbox 360 controller to play games on a pc as the drivers for the wired controller are built into Windows

 

Forgot to say that I have Windows 10

 

May be helpful to double check if you have either an xbox one wireless adapter, xbox one controller or another xbox 360 controller plugged into your PC that you are unaware of.

If the 360 controller is still the only one then try logging off and log in.

 

I checked that, i don't have any other controller connected, it's like it detects the keyboard maybe like player 1, but I tried disconnecting it and having only the controller connected, but it's the same. Log off and log in, if you mean from windows, doesn't
work

Which version do you have? Start->winver should tell you, please paste that information. Since joy.cpl is showing a single controller, and it's GTAV this is most probably a game issue, and it may be worthwhile contacting the support for GTAV.

Ah the latest update for Windows 10 is 10586, also known as the TH2 update. You may want to give an upgrade a try, if available for your PC.

 

I have upgraded it, but it is still not working... Any other idea? It's really weird that it worked like 3 weeks ago though.

 

Yeah this problem was rather frustrating which I like to call the "Ghost Player" and my best guess is that the xbox app actually has it's own little controller in the app, I know, weird right?! I saw it when I was about to stream and saw that under controls
right under test streaming it says controller. So I clicked on it and sure enough it was a layout of a user interface of a controller. Now try to find what I'm talking about and start playing with the buttons on this user interface, If your tv is on that is
connected to your xbox one you can see that it registers as an actual controller and this is what is causing you problems. Now the way to bypass this is to force first player by booting up with your tv rather than your pc screen. After you are in game and
the controller is working, NOW you can start to stream and that ghost player will be forced as second player rendering you finally able to play your FREAKING GAMES. Still working on the stupid mic sync problem with the party system though :/.
