    I bought a brand new xbox one controller (for Windows 10 with a wireless USB receiver) a couple of days ago, along with a play charging kit. Both official microsoft products.

    I plug in the new battery to the play and charge kit, connect the controller and the light goes white after a few seconds.

    It shows that it's fully charged when it clearly isn't (the connection drops after a while and I have to plug it in again).

    Is there a way to fix this issue? This happened again with the xbox 360 wireless controller and its charging kit. I had to plug it in and out about 60-100 times for it to start charging properly. Again, it would show up as 'fully charged' seconds after being
    plugged in when it clearly wasn't.

    I kind of don't want to resort to third party batteries/ chargers again, but I will if there's no other option :/

    I really think that microsoft needs to get with the times when it comes to their wireless controller batteries. They need to make them internal so this won't keep happening after they have been in storage on a store shelf for years. It needs to be chargeable
    right away.

    Elite controller not charging.

    I'm having similar issues. I have a brand new Elite controller and new Play and Charge Kit. The first thing I did was insert the battery into the controller and plug it in the xbox one to fully charge. The xbox showed the controller as charging but, I didn't
    realize this until later, the amber light never came on. After charging for a few hours and the light not coming on the cable, I unplugged it and checked the charge status on the xbox. It showed to be about 2/3 charged. I tried charging for a while longer
    but it never seems to get beyond 2/3 charged.

    I tried using the braided cable also but the results were the same. At one point the amber light came on on the cable, but it seemed really flaky. Just messing around with the cable a bit would make it turn on and off. When I was able to get the amber light
    to stay on, I tried letting it charge like that for a while, but it still would never go beyond 2/3 charged.

    Unfortunately, I don't have another controller to try the battery in so I'm not sure what to do at this point.

    Before trying to replace it. More than likely, it's the cable. The Xbox one brand cable is terrible and stops working after normal use.

    Try this test.

    Lay the controller down and plug in the cable. Move the cable very slowly until the orange light stays on. That means it's charging. If there isn't a orange light, then the cord has gone bad.

    Orange to white means it's fully charged

    Buy another cable first on EBay or something for $2 (non Xbox brand tho)
