pc bluetooth detects elite controller s2 as standard controller after update

my pc bluetooth now detects my elite controller s2 as a standard controller after a controller update, thereby denying me access to my custom controls and the underside pads on steam big picture. due to the games i play and my own personal physical needs its absolutely crucial i get access to both of these again, so any help would be so so much appreciated

it works fine if its wired, but im not reorganising my setup so the wire can reach… im also not playing wired lol. thats why i bought a bluetooth dongle in the 1st place

for some additional info if it helps, the controllers worked fine for the year< ive had it. i only started getting issues 2 days ago after installing new ram. the controller randomly started to disconnect ingame (not turn off), only reconnecting if i walked to my keyboard, minimised whatever i was doing, and opened the steam window. it would then reconnect (or turn back on if i turned it off) instantly. i looked around and found some suggestions to check for controller updates, and after installing it its now completely broken. restarting the pc, moving the dongle around are things ive tried

edit: strangely, xbox accessories correctly identifies it as an elite s2, but naturally wont let me configure it thanks to a bluetooth connection. its bluetooth alone that has identified it wrongly

Have you tried to rollback the controller firmware update? I think it may work since you said the issue got way worse when you updated the controller.

Please try the steps suggested on the URL below to revert a firmware update on your controller:

I have a white Elite V1 controller, and a standard Xbox One Bluetooth controller. Both get used a lot because one is synced to my console, and one to my PC.

Because the Elite Series 1 controller came out before they introduced bluetooth in their controllers. Almost all of the standard controllers you buy today will have bluetooth like you are saying but the standard controllers that came out before and at
the same time as Elite Series 1 will not have bluetooth. So that same $50 controller you're referrring to can actually come with NO bluetooth like the $149 one depending on how long your retailing has had it sitting there.

Yes, I updated the controller using the xbox accessories app on my PC. Before I updated the controller my PC was able to find my controller via Bluetooth but asked for password and couldn't connect. Once I updated the controller it was no longer detectable by my PC via Bluetooth. I have reverted the update but this has had no effect so I have updated it again and still nothing.
