    I have been having this problem with Microsoft's payment options. Although they changed it a while back I have encountered a problem with it. My gold recently expired within the week, I got onto this site (Of course) to renew it. The new Xbox Live Gold Membership
    1 Month FREE trial caught my eye. I clicked on it and followed the steps until I reached Add Payment Options. "Crap," I thought to myself. Being 14 I legally do not have a credit/debit card. I do however have a Visa reloadable gift card from wal-mart. Being
    the doofus I am I tried to type in the Credit Card number than the Name and eventually I filled in everything. I clicked save then hit Purchase SHOCKER nothing happened and I got a message saying "You cannot use this method please get lost" That's what they
    should have said. The whole change is useless and I cant recieve my FREE 1 month gold trial and I will not go to the store and buy a year or 3 months if I can spend a month saving more money while still playing on Gold.

    So if you have same problems please post a reply and your story.

    Microsoft you're pushing me away from xbox live and more towards Play Station.

    How to Manage your Xbox LIVE payment options

    Overview

    You can choose to use more than one payment method for your Xbox LIVE account. The payment options include credit cards and PayPal accounts. You can use these payment options to buy items from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

    The 2-year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract uses only credit cards as the payment option. The other payment options like Debit Cards, Prepaid cards and PayPal are not valid for this subscription. However, you can change your payment to another credit card.

    If it is before the end of the two years and there is no credit card associated with your account, it is assumed you have terminated the subscription, and you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and any applicable taxes.

    It is easy to edit your payment options on your console or at Xbox.com

    Steps to Follow

    Add or change a payment option using your console

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to Sign in.

    2) Proceed to Settings and then select Account.

    3) Select Manage Payment Options, and then choose either of the following:
    • If you want to add a new credit card, select Add Credit Card.
    • If you want to use your PayPal account on Xbox LIVE, select Add PayPal. You will be required to enter your PayPal username and password. Follow the instructions to add PayPal as a payment option. You cannot use PayPal as a payment option for the 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract. PayPal is not available in all regions.
    4) After making changes to payment options, select Update Payment Option.

    Add or Change a payment option on Xbox.com

    1) Go to My Account.

    2) Select Payments and Billings and click on Manage Payment Options.

    3) You may be required to Sign in using your Microsoft account (email and password).

    4) Proceed to do either of the following:

    If you want to edit a payment option, select Edit.

    If you want to add a payment option, you can do either of the following:
    • Click on Add New Credit Card and enter the credit card information
    • Click on PAY with PayPal and follow the instructions.

  3. Xbox.com will not allow me to purchase Microsoft Points.

    I have tried 3 different payment options and I keep getting the same message. " Your payment instrument could not be authorized. Please contact your provider, or try a different payment option". I also can't change my payment option on my Xbox console.

    No they aren't punishing you

    You have to realize that

    A prepaid credit cards don't work well with online services

    Because of online transactions and reoccuring purchased aren't being supported

    You will have to check with the card provider to see if they are

    Also register billing info on the vendor's site

    B best option get a real creditcard

    Prepaid cards have fees to activate etc

    Not worth the hassle

    Marketplace Problems

    Yes and it is really annoying. It does this when I try to use paypal. It says "Can't authorize selected payment option. Please select a different payment option or add a new one."

    Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention, whenever I can get to the stage of actually pressing confirm purchase, it says

    "Can't authorize the selected payment option etc." This too, really annoys me. Help ?
