    My son recently was billed for Xbox Live Gold without either of our consent and now has a negative balance of 24.99 on his account. I called customer service to get this issue sorted out. When I finally got to talk to somebody I was met with a sour tone
    of a very disinterested individual. I made the issue known but was treated as if I had no knowledge of what I was talking about. When I asked to speak to a different representative I was told he was the only person there and I would just have to pay the negative
    balance that I had not agreed to. I am very discontented with the sub-par service I have received from Xbox today and I still fail to comprehend why after it was not paid for in the first place they continued his Gold membership without consent.

    Smwutches is correct, you'll need to talk to support about billing issues. Also I would like to say you'll need to go to the website to turn off auto renew.

    ...So sorry that customer service couldn't provide the help and answers you were looking for. You've stated that there is a negative balance which sounds like a 3 month subscription to the service. The Xbox subscriptions are not automatic sign up but it
    sounds to me that some how someone who had access may have signed up during a free trial and selected the 3 month billing after the free trial. If there is payment information in billing it will attempt to auto bill unless auto bill is turned off and you cancel
    before the free trial ends. If neither you or your son were aware of this perhaps someone else had access to the xbox and selected it.

    At what point were you aware of the negative balance? Meaning did you just so happen to look in subscriptions? How long ago did it become a negative balance?

    I would definitely contact customer service again and request a transaction reversal on the account to remove the -24.99.

    you may always control them via the Microsoft account they're listed under online or via the console, as well as managing your payment instruments. Here are some handy support articles that detail how to do so:

    Additionally, you may request a refund after cancellation, if applicable: Request an Xbox digital product refund. If necessary,

    When you purchased gold directly from Xbox, it starts a recurring subscription which you agree to when you confirm the payment. In order to stop that, you do have to turn off auto-renewal before the next subscription starts. Otherwise, the system does start
    the new subscription and tries to charge you. Typically they will attempt to charge you a few times before suspending your service in case it was just an issue with payment.

    Unfortunately, billing issue cannot be handled through the forums, so you would need to try contacting support again about the balance.
