paying for my xbox live membership

hi i was wondering if anyone could help me , I have money in my microsoft account and i want to buy a annual subscription for my xbox 360 can someone please tell me if that can be done and if so HOW

I brought the package, but I'm not going to play

I brought the elite membership while I was logged in to my xbox live account. (my mistake, I'm sure). We have a family gold membership. I have brought many map packs under my xbox live name since I'm the one paying & everyone can play the maps no problem,
I guess its not the same with this? I am not going to play the elite maps, the membership was for my son, is there any possible way to (without paying MORE money) change this? Thanks for any help on this.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to buy a gold subscription with the accounts currency.

If you want one time subscriptions you need to buy prepaid subscription cards as the dashboard requires reoccurring payment method

 

LoL, how retarded does that sound? You can't buy something with cash. This person put money into an account but can'tuse it to buy something you can pay cash for in a store. Sounds a bit shady.
