Paying a past due subscription

I was trying to pay a past due payment for my Xbox live membership which had charged me for another 3 months worth but there was not enough in my Microsoft account to pay for it so I went and purchased a £25.00 pre-paid card which was more than enough
to pay for the charge but when I tried to settle the payment it gave me an error message stating that the payment method I was trying to use had been declined but this had worked for me in the past but now it won't work can someone please help me to fix this
urgent problem before it gets out of hand.

I had an Xbox live subscription for a couple months but wasn't able to pay it. I didn't want the cost to keep building up I decided to cancel my subscription with out paying for the rest of subscription as I didn't have the money. Now that I do have the
money and want to pay off my past-due subscriptions, it won't let me. It won't accept my debit card and there is no "pay now" option available. Does anyone know how to solve this?

The problem with this is that my card was unregistered because of me not paying for the subscription and I can't re-add it to my account. I'm told to check if my card is still valid and it is since I can make purchases elsewhere with it so I don't understand
why this problem is occurring just for Xbox.
