    Pay to win what exactly?

    [/quote]

In "Fight Night: Champion" EA let people pay money for stat boosts.

So some people threw money at the game until they had maxed the Right Hook skill to 100%.

Then when you boxed online these people threw nothing but Right Hooks because at 100% that skill could knock people out by just connecting once or twice.

That's an example of "Pay to Win" that ruined the online game for anyone who wasn't prepared to throw money at the game.

"Pay to Win" is always annoying because it creates imbalance and this can suck all the fun out of a game.

Microtransactions can be a nice add on, but some developers have taken it a step further and withhold content to sell later as "DLC" (In Capcom's case they often included it on the Game disc).

People who have been gaming for a few years tend to take a dim view of this because they remember a time when you used to pay money and get the whole game.

Since Rockstar have only released limited information on how the Online Shop is going to affect online play we don't really know what to expect.

As mentioned above games like "Defiance" have managed to have an in game shop that has content people are happy to buy but doesn't unbalance the game in cooperative and competative multiplayer.

Hopefully "GTA V" can do the same but we won't know for sure until they give us the full details.

One thing is for sure though.

Remember all the posts about people who were annoyed by hacking on "GTA IV"?

If Rockstar are taking people's money with the online shop you can be sure they will be cracking down on anyone trying to hack, cheat or get any of that 'payforit' content for free.
