Password will not work

I could not remember my password for xbox live so I came online and changed it. Online I can login in to xbox live site and to the microsoft account, but on my xbox it's telling me the password in invalid. Any idea why?

Password does not work

It sounds as though you might have Two-Step Verification turned on. You can find this out by going to
https://account.live.com . Under
Overview select Security Info and you should see
Two-step verification. See if it says Set up two-step verification or if it says Turn off two-step verification. If it says turn off two-step then when you sign in on your Xbox you will want to enter the app
password instead of the password for your Microsoft account. If you turn off two-step verification then you would use your Microsoft account password. Let us know your findings and hopefully this helps!

Does anyone else have the problem where your xbox live password will work on xbox.com and the xbox smart glass app but not on your console?

Clear your system cache, restart the Xbox and try again. If that still doesn't work, delete your profile (delete profile only), and re-download it. If you can sign in on the websites just fine it sounds like the Xbox just needs to be "refreshed"

Sounds to me like you have Two Step Verification turned on for your account. If you are able to sign in to both Xbox.com and login.live.com with no problems and it is just the console then that is certainly the issue. Go to login.live.com, log into your
account with your email address and password you use for your account, go into your security info on the left side panel, you have to verify the account before you can access your security, once you've done that check and see if your Two Step Verification
is turned on. The Two Step Verification is the first option on the page and under it there should be a blue link telling you to either turn it off or set it up, choose to turn it off. Once you've done that try logging back onto your console using your regular
password, it shouldn't give you anymore trouble after that.

I would suggest Resetting the Factory (Network) Settings.

Tap on the silver Guide button again, go two clicks to the right, choose Settings, System Settings, Network Settings, then

choose your connection (WIRED if Ethernet, otherwise the SSID of your WiFi connection), then Configure Network.

Copy down the settings for IP (auto/manual, IP address, subnet mask and gateway) as well as

DNS (auto/manual, primary DNS server, secondary DNS server), then go one click right to Additional settings.

If anything is _not_ blank or Not Set, make a note of those settings as well, then

go to the bottom and choose Restore to Factory Defaults and confirm.

Then power down the console, wait 8 secs or more, power back up and reconnect.

Are you able to change his wireless security to WPA2 instead of WEP and try a different password and see if the console then connects without saying the password is wrong?

Hey there, Pulsar 3. That would depend on the router. I believe the username you're looking for is admin and the password you need should be on the underside of you router.
