  1. Password too long for sign in (console)

My password for my Xbox account is more than 16 characters. On Xbox.com and on Microsoft sites I can sign in perfectly fine using the same email and password that won't work on the 360, as it requires a password less than 16 characters. Am I just supposed
to never sign in again, or do I have to make my password less secure?

    :)

How to password protect your Xbox LIVE profile

    Xbox LIVE password overview

It is possible to download your Xbox LIVE profile to several different consoles. You may need to do this if you have more than one Xbox 360 console, or you want to play games at a friend's house. In such a situation, you may want to password protect your Xbox LIVE account so that no one else can sign in using your profile.

Set the console to remember your password

Once you have downloaded your Xbox LIVE profile to a console, you will be asked if you want the console to remember your password. The Remember Password option is usually off by default. This means that you will be asked for your Microsoft account password every time you sign into Xbox LIVE.

If you don't want to be asked for your Microsoft account password every time you sign into Xbox LIVE, select the Remember Password option.

Change the password protection on your profile

You are required to set the Remember Password option after you download your Xbox LIVE profile. However, you can change the password protection on your Xbox LIVE profile any time.

If you don't need a password to sign in:

Sign into your Xbox LIVE profile. After you have entered your Microsoft account password, select the Remember Password option.

If you choose the Remember Password option, you will not be asked for your Microsoft account password the next time you sign into your Xbox LIVE profile.

If you need a password to sign in:

You can restrict access to your Xbox LIVE profile on any console using your Microsoft account password.

    Steps to follow

    1) Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

    2) Under Settings, select Account and then Account Security

    3) Choose the option for Password at Sign In.

    4) Select Require Password Here

You will be asked for your Microsoft account password the next time you sign into your Xbox LIVE profile.

How to password protect your Xbox LIVE profile remotely

If you downloaded your Xbox LIVE profile to another console and it is not password protected, or someone has compromised your password, you can change the password from a remote location so that no one else can access your profile.

    Change your Microsoft account

    1) Sign into accounts.live.com using your Microsoft account.

    2) Go to Account Information and, next to Password, click Change.

You can also use your console to change your Microsoft account password.

Note: If the Xbox LIVE profile you downloaded does not require a password to sign in (You selected the Remember Password option), you will not be able to restrict someone from signing into your Xbox profile even if you change your Microsoft account password.

You can remove your Microsoft account password so that other people cannot access your Xbox profile on other consoles. This will ensure that a password is required before signing into your Xbox profile.

Remotely set a profile password from a computer:

    1) Sign into your Xbox LIVE account.

    2) Under Settings, select Account, and then Account Security

    3) Choose the option for Password at Sign In.

    4) Select On All Other Consoles.

Once you have done this, a password will be required to sign into your Xbox LIVE profile on all other consoles.

  3. Password too long

All you have to do to fix this issue is to put a password into your account that is less then 16 characters.

The problem is that it has always been that way with the 360 limiting passwords to 16 characters.

As far as making any changes that affect the 360 console i do not think Microsoft is going to be doing that anymore since it is no longer supported. there will probably be no more updates to the system.

    Password too long

The xbox 360 does not accept passwords that are longer then 16 characters so if you password is longer then 16 characters then that is your problem and would need to change your password to something less then 16 characters.

    Password too long

Yes I am having the same **** issue. Changed my MS Account password a few weeks ago and this evening around midnight, I decided I wanted to watch some BSG from Amazon Prime. Went to login to my account and was first greeted with a "xbox isn't connected to
the internet", **** message, so I had to waste time forcing it to perform network tests, which, strangely (/s), it passed on the first go around with no input on my behalf (though remember that it seemingly couldn't do this before). I then went to enter the
new password (using that damned difficult-to-use keypad), only to be repeatedly told it was incorrect. Pissed off, I used the on-screen keyboard (thinking I wasn't using the keypad correctly, though I knew I was), but again, more errors. I then counted the
number of characters the console was accepting and discovered that it was only 16...my password is 25 characters! WTF?!?!

It took three calls to their phone support in shitholeistan before I could reach "Charles" (funny- "Charles" doesn't sound like a name you'd encounter in shitholeistan). I told him what was going on and his response was to chide me for having a long password.
    Like seriously.

I told him I'm just going to make a fake account and the password for it will be "fuckmicrosoft". That's under the 16 character limit, right?

What kills me is that there is not a single warning on the screen warning you of any limitations on your password. MS- THIS IS 2018!!! 16 character passwords went out 15-20 years ago! We live in an era of 64-bit computing. What the **** good does it do to
have a MS Account with no limit (?) on the password, only to see your xbox account get virtually locked-out if you use more than 16 characters? This problem is artificial and can be fixed with a simple update, but nooooo...you think they'll do that?

**** it...I don't even game on this POS, I just use it to access Plex, Amazon Prime, and other video services. I think I'll just get a **** Roku.

    FUMS.

I use the xbox one, and only got on my 360 just to download dead space 3, as it was free for gold, because It didn't like me trying to download/buy and said I had to do it on my xbox. But thanks, my password is 20+ characters so i guess I was way over
the limit. Microsoft should still fix it for security reasons.
