    Password Reset Locked For More Than 24hrs As Codes Are Not Working


    Everytime i update my password, I have to then add the new password to my Xbox account. Yesterday, I did it as usual and changed the password. Then I went and added it in the Xbox--and it was rejected. This has happened before so I just reset it again. Rejected again. It was locked as I received too many codes.

    So I waited until this evening and did it again. I was sent a new code to reset my password but when I entered it said "too many codes, try again tomorrow".

    -There is no way around this. Every prompt or support link goes back to the same link. It's like this crazy Groundhog Day.

    (PS-I can log into Microsoft account on PC just fine through PIN. But can't change my password since every variant I've tried says its incorrect... )

    Upon reading the description you have posted, it seems that you have an issue with Xbox wherein even after waiting for 24 hours and use the verification code that was sent to you it still gives you the same error message "too many codes, try again tomorrow".



    We understand, that you are quite at loss right now. Given that you are in the loop of using too many verification codes but you are still unable to reset your account. And when you try to contact support you are only re-routed to the same page.

    Common cause:

    1. High volume of requests. Excessive or repetitive requests to alternative emails or phone numbers can cause us to block you. This can result in temporary or permanent blocks.

    2. That verification method isn’t working right now: Sometimes the block may be tied to the verification method you are using. Try using another verification method connected to your account. For example, if you are using SMS to verify yourself and are hitting a block, try using an alternate email that is connected to the account to receive your authorization code.

    For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:



    • Have you already tried to wait for at-least 72 hours before requesting for a new code again and checked if it has the same behavior?

    • Have you also already tried the steps on how to use the sign-in helper from this support article link: Contact - Microsoft Support?



    In the meantime, if you are still unable to use the verification code sent to you after waiting for 72 hours. We suggest that you contact the live support team about this matter. In order for you to get the most relevant answers and the best solution to your current concern.

    Here's how:

    1. Please use this link: Contact us | Xbox Support
    2. Scroll down and look at the lower left side if you can see the page matches the country/region you are currently located.
    3. If not, please select the country/region it is showing and select the correct one among the lists.
    4. Make sure to use to check the available contact times of the support.
    5. Select the "Contact Us" button
    6. Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.
    7. The next window will provide you with support articles based on your request and we recommend reviewing the relevant articles before selecting the "See contact options" button.
    8. On the final window, you will be presented with multiple options. We suggest selecting either the "Chat online" or the "Request a call" options to speak with someone. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible.
    9. If you cannot get connected to the support, please use the Virtual Agent and enter this exact phrase, "Talk to an agent".

      Should you be encountering issues contacting support, you may try InPrivate Window of your browser, other browser, different device/s or connect to different network.

    I have called customer support 4 times. unfortunately i had misspelled the secret word so they had locked the account for 24hr. I know how to spell it know, and i will contacted them after the 24hrs pass. First i will try to reset the password that goes

    48 hours codes do not provide full xbox live access, they are only good for the access to the game they came with, thus TRIAL code. Some other LIVE features might work, but not all of them.

    You can try asking microsoft customer support to recover your account by following forgot password links and when you select for link to be emailed to you, instead click on I can't use these options, complete the form and once they email you reset link within
    24hrs, then delete old profile ONLY from hard drive, clear cache and redownload profile. You might have locked your account up by changing password so many times and only Microsoft account support will be able to unlock it for you when you submit that contact
    form. Good luck and hope you can get back in soon.
