password reset issue

okay as you may have guest by the subject i'm having problems resetting my password i changed it a while back and can no longer remember it i attempted to change it back but the email used to set up the account was closed and no longer exists so i went back
and tried to use the option to send this security code to my phone instead but it keeps saying there's a temporary problem with the service leaving me unable to change the password, and unable to access my account via computers companion apps and so on.

and in case it helps i am able to access my account on my 360 but am afraid if i edit anything i might lose the account permanently PLEASE HELP!!!

FYI: this account was made for the soul purpose of asking this question as i'm unable to access my actual account.

My console keeps locking up every time I try and install a new game.

In the most extreme case a factory reset maybe in order. What you can try to do first is a couple of things, remove your primary account from the xbox and then re-add the primary account (make sure you know the password). This will force xbox live to sync with the console. If you suspect you have networking issues, clear your mac address and hard reset the console. That is the easiest thing to try first. If the problem persists contact support. Also are you a member of the preview program or no ?

Xbox Live vs PSN

There is a big difference between people using insecure passwords and getting hacked and the enter network getting hacked and millions of passwords being stolen.

Its the difference between your house getting broken into because you left the door unlocked and a bank being robbed because they didn't lock the vault and everyone money being stolen.

True but XBL had no significant issues at launch or since, PSN has had nothing but issues. MS just seem to have a better infrastructure.

Just that small thing then.

And the point I am making is that it looks to be the same with the PS4, its not been reliable, they have "reset users passwords" which is a worry, Sound quality is poor, same old same old.

I can see that, it would be nice to have "free" games (XBL ones are poor) but tbh, the main thing for me is that it works.Click to expand...

Well a hack is a hack regardless if your password is poor or not. I'm sure its just not weak passworded accounts that get hacked either.

XBL has had issues since launch, plenty of articles around to back that up. I'm not talking the whole thing gone kaput for everyone here, just meaning issues.

Not sure the 'PSN has had nothing but issues' is correct either.

Of course it wasn't a small thing. It was down for a month. It is a free service though at that time so it was more of an inconvenience to me (obv more to those who got hacked, not sure how many actually did have thier accounts hacked though).

THey explained the user passwords being reset. Not really a problem.
