Password protect Xbox purchases

Can u password protect your Xbox live purchases so it asks when you want to purchase something online? My son bought a $19.99 digital movie download. Not bad but I dont want it to happen again. He uses my profile for now. Hes 5. Thanks

I had my rock band drums plugged in and when my dad came round my house, he saw them and started thrashing out a drum solo. I then noticed my xbox light was on, turned on the tv to find that he has only gone and bought an arcade game. Duh!

My 3 year old shouldn't need to have their own Xbox Gold account in order to use Netflix on the Xbox since MS is moving towards a media consumption approach vs strictly a game console. All other media consumption devices that I use require a password confirmation
for making purchase.

 

Yes you can. You can activate a pass code using the controller buttons like you could on 360. Or like I have done created 2 extra profiles for my kids with kinect recognition with no purchasing rights.

 

Create another profile for your kids. They can play all games that are on the Xbox.

So your main profile you can buy all the games, then passcode that profile and create a new profile for your kids to play on.

The Xbox One actually has great security on it. On the 360, I had to password protect my entire profile because I didn't want people accidentally buying things if they were using my profile. Now, my profile can be used for automatic sign-in via connect,
but my purchases are still hidden behind a passcode. Makes it really convenient for playing games.
