    Passthrough Port not working quite right.


    So I've been trying to connect a media device to the HDMI In passthrough port on my Xbox One S but so far nothing is working quite the way it should.

    I've set up One Guide to display the device. It detects the HDMI signal, but the little TV on the right side of the screen stays blank. Exiting to the main screen of One Guide also only shows a black screen. I did check the connection through the Audio & Video
    option (HDMI Connected). I have also swapped out HDMI cables. The other device is also good for initiating the "handshake" between the two devices, and yet I still cannot see the UI of the other device on my screen via the port.

    Is the port bad, or is there some sort of other step to get this to work?

    Has it been confirmed that EPG's from Sky and Virgin will not work on the passthrough HDMI port?

    I don't get why people think they need to get rid of their 360.



    Keep your 360 and still buy the One



    Your gold membership will work on both. If you don't have enough HDMI ports then just plug the 360 into the passthrough port on the One

    HDMI passthrough disabled with XBOX One off / standby.

    I don't know if the term "passthrough" is correct when it comes to the X1. To me, a passthrough would mean simply a link between the "in" port and the "out" port so that the signal can continue from one to the other whether there's power to the box or not.

    In the case of the X1, I believe it actually needs to process the signal before sending it out to the TV, so it's not a straight connection from one port to the other. I believe this, because once in a while the x1 causes some signal "Glitches" that I do
    not get when the cable is connected directly to the TV.

    If I'm right, it means that it's not physically possible for the signal to work without the x1 powered on. It needs to be able to process that signal in order to work.

    I'm only speculating of course..

    This means to me, that no matter how awesome MS may make the oneguide and voice controls for TV, I will still never be able to use it simply because the other people in my house have no idea what to do with an xbox controller and need the TV to "Just work".

    HDMI pass-through, do you use it? And do you want it on Series X?

    I love my passthrough. My TV and my switch go to a hub and use the passthrough and my surround from the optical out. I really hope they keep passthrough because if we use the family room the xbox is on and everything runs through it. Its simple. And quite
    frankly a huge reason I never had interest in the PS4.

    I read that it will do passthrough... this will be useful for those who have tvs with only 1 or two hdmi ports on their tv (also for those who used all of their ports already)
