Passcode Invalid Even After Resetting It

    Hello, All.

    Here is a little background:

-I bought my Xbox from the store brand new.

-Up until this year, my Xbox hadn't been connected to the internet in around eight years.

    -I have a five-year-old son.

-He gets to play games on the Xbox as a reward.

-He and his father successfully connected the Xbox to Xbox Live in the past month to buy full versions of games.

-After that day, for some strange reason, the Xbox was not connected to Xbox Live anymore.

-Today I connected the Xbox to Xbox Live a second time (since, again, around eight years ago).

    Here is my issue:

In the past week, I noticed I needed to enter in a pass-code to log into my gamertag on my Xbox 360.

I found the step-by-step instructions on my console's device page on Microsoft's website (i.e., after logging in. . . Devices>click on Xbox 360 image>Manage (at top left next to Xbox picture)>Reset Pass-code), followed those instructions, and after resetting
my Xbox to factory settings, was able to change my pass-code.

    However. . .

I receive the error message my pass-code is "invalid".

I've now factory reset my Xbox three times. On the third try I chose a different and simpler pass-code number sequence thinking somehow the controller might not have detected the number sequence I
intended to input the first two times, but no dice! I even turned off my Xbox.

(I must say Microsoft is asking for unnecessary problems when requiring entry of a pass-code involving a process where you can't even see the values before confirming that's the pass-code sequence you want. (There is such a thing as entering in incorrect
values twice in a row after all.) And what is the point of having the backup pass-code question they require you to enter in alongside your pass-code if you can't even use it as backup to sign into your gamertag? At least that would have been the reasonable
precautionary measure.) *bangs head against wall*

If anyone has a solution, I would be most appreciative.

I kindly thank you in advance.

    Dawn

    :)

Passcode Invalid Even After Resetting It

    Hi, MuddyDenver1.

I've had what you suggested in the back of my mind since hearing there was a newer and better (than Xbox One) Xbox console coming out this holiday season; even without the issue I described above, the laser disk reader has been intermittently failing even
after using a laser disk reader cleaner. I was even considering (if it was available) a new Xbox One S or X. Unfortunately, everywhere seems to be sold out of consoles, new and used! It might be that I have to pay whatever Microsoft will charge for the newest
console later this year. I can only hope it's not over $400.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello,

The first thing that comes to mind when reading your post is that your xbox seems to be very outdated. Updating your console to a newer version could ultimately fix your problem, there may be an occasional hiccup in performance but a newer model must surely
fix anything you have with your xbox. I would also reccomend contacting microsoft support in case you still have an issue, with a newer console, otherwise I dont see a fix to your issue, the 360 has stopped official production and may not receive a software
update for a very long time (if ever)

    I hope that this helps!

    Microsoft - Xbox Support

After entering in the passcode 3 times it will then ask for the password for the account to reset the passcode the best thing to do is make a password that your son will not know. Or even better yet make your son a child account that has restrictions on
making purchases on the account and this would prevent it in the future.

How do I get pass the pass code on my Xbox360

If you've forgotten your Xbox Live gamertag's passcode you just delete and redownload your profile. This will clear the profile of any passcode. Now, if you've forgotten your XBOX 360's Family passcode then you need to contact phone support, there's absolutely
no way to reset it manually by yourself without speaking with phone support. Worst case scenario is that you will have to "Reset to Factory Defaults" to clear the forgotten Family Passcode.
I don't believe even a factory reset will clear a lost family passcode. You would have to contact Support for that.
