Party Chat TOO LOUD

The only reason I play video games anymore is to socialize with old friends. We pretty much only play shooters like PUBG, CoD, and R6S. The problem with socializing while playing these games is that I can't hear the game during crucial competitive moments.
I keep my chat mixer set one click away from muting party chat, and STILL I can barely hear anything past my friends' voices - namely enemy footsteps. Telling everyone to shut up while I'm trying to clutch gets really old. It'd be nice to listen to their call-outs
AND footsteps, but the voice chat is TOO LOUD.

I know that Astro and Turtle Beach have chat mixing hardware, but do I really need to spend money on more gadgets just to make voice chat quieter? Is there no setting within the Xbox that allows me to turn down the chat volume independently, or turn UP the
game volume (which I've already maxed out within the settings of every individual game I play)?

For reference, I have a HyperX Cloud Core headset plugged into the 3.5mm jack on my Sport White controller. I've attached a pic of my current headset audio settings as well.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! The headset adapter has a better chat mixer than the one built into the guide. An unexpected result, but voice chat is now quiet enough that I can hear enemy footsteps over my friends' call-outs. Unfortunately I had to spend
almost as much as a new controller costs...

I just use the adapter that is meant for the Xbox controller. I can balance it all out from there with no problem. Honestly I have never come across an issue of anything drowning out one or the other.

it's probably the Chat Mixer settings reducing the game volume.

go into Settings (the gear icon) then select Display & sound

select Volume from the options on the right

select Chat Mixer

select Do Nothing

this should stop the Party Chat from lowering game volume and allow you to hear what is going on.

your friends may have they're microphone settings too sensitive.
