Party chat should be allowed when playing Dark Souls

I really think they should allow party chat in Dark Souls. Whenever I'm in a party with my friends they would have to leave the party to do the online part of it. I think it would be nice to still be able to party chat when they are doing that.

I would like to be allowed into party chat while still being able to play Dark Souls online, however, this isn't because I'm trying to play Dark Souls with my friends it is simply because while they're playing some other game and I'm alone playing Dark Souls
I would like to be able to still have friendly banter with them.

In my case party chat wouldn't translate into me playing Dark Souls with 2 friends while talking, instead it would be me playing Dark Souls with random people as is intended but while still talking to my friends about completely unrelated things.

The way that Dark Souls is setup is brilliant in my opinion, it really forces the unspoken co-operation to overcome the trials one may face. Mind you I hate being invaded by Darkwraiths / Black Phantoms with huge stats/gear while I am about level 10 with
the starter gear and then when they crush me they make gestures that annoy me.

In the end I realize that most likely there will never be a form of party chat available while playing any form of "souls" game I would like there to be one for those of us who are social. All in all Dark Souls is a fantastic game and just fine the way it
is. I certainly hope for another.

 

The developers did not allow party chat for a good reason. The Souls series has a reputation of being some of the hardest games ever. Party chat in Dark Souls would have allowed other players to help each other too much. Now that Dark Souls 2 is out,
Dark Souls 1 is no longer a surprise or challenge anymore; however, From Software has more important matters, such as Dark Souls 2 patches and DLC. Forget about allowing party chat in Dark Souls 1 and let's concentrate on something more important that would
improve the game, like dealing with modders/hackers.

 

I know there is a glitch for it but I don't know if it is repeatable.

 

If you can do it, go for it. I see absolutely no harm in doing it. If you are going into an XBL party for help with the game and if you haven't finished it yourself, you won't be experiencing the game fully. Just FYI.

 

I'm not aware of a glitch that allows you to use party chat but, if you want to talk with just one other person, you can use Xbox live private chat.

The help part can't be the reason. I mean, you can still use private chat for that like already mentioned. It is quite stupid not to be able to use Party Chat...
