Party chat not working properly.

Hi,

This past weekend I have been experiencing a bizarre bug that the agents at Xbox Support couldn't figure out. I was hoping someone was having a similar issue or someone may be able to help me work out a solution to the problem.

On friday evening my xbox was working just fine. I was in a party using my headset to communicate with my friends. Out of nowhere the mic wasn't being picked up by my xbox. I could hear everybody perfectly but the ring around my gamerpic wasn't appearing
as I talked. No one in the party could hear me. I made the assumption that it was my headset and it has broken again. The next morning I went to the store and purchased a Turtle Beach headset because I realized the default xbox one breaks a lot. When I returned
home to my surprise it still wasn't working. I made a call to microsoft where I was connected with a nice agent. She ran me through all the steps EX: power cycling my xbox, updating my controller etc.. We then concluded that it may be a previous suspension
glitching and coming back. I started speculating and I decided to have my friend log into my account and test it on his xbox. He could talk in the party just fine. So I made another call to Xbox Support. I was connected with another nice agent. I was walked
through all the steps again. We then concluded it was a hardware issue. I was given two options. I could either purchase a new xbox or wait four weeks and get a refurbished one. I decided to go out and buy and brand new one. I brought it home and set it up.
Again the problem reoccurred. I made one more call to Xbox Support. We thought it was a network error so I factory reset my router and gave my xbox a DMZ. The problem still was persistent. We did one last test which was the Skype echo test. The microphone
still didn't work. I was informed that the echo test is actually offline so it couldn't have been my network.

This problem is so bizarre and weird. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I'm going to my friend's house later this week to plug my xbox in there and see if it works. Im also going to have my modem switched out. If you guys have a solution
to this please reply it would be greatly appreciated I just want this problem to be fixed.

Party Chat Not Working Properly Anymore

Hey there, Stoney! I'm very sorry to see any issues with the Party Chat app! Hopefully I can provide some troubleshooting steps for you that will help you out. I understand that some of these you may have done previously. I do hope you give them all a try
again for me so that I can ensure everything has been done before we continue.

• Restart your console by going to Settings > Power & Startup > Restart Now
  
• Please use our
  Troubleshoot parties on Xbox One support page for me, and verify you have done all these steps
  
• Also attempt our
  NAT troubleshooter to see if that may help you out
• Pass the troubleshooter links off to your friends, too
• Try out a wired connection directly to your modem

I understand that you have Open NAT right now, however the NAT troubleshooter step is required before we are able to continue.

Please post back once you and your friends have attempted all of these, and let us know of your results. If you are still running into issues, we do have more we can look into, but I would like to ensure these ones are done first.

I do appreciate your patience with us while we sort out what is going on, and your assistance in nailing down what you're running into.

 

Party Chat Not Working Properly Anymore

Is it just me or had party chat on Xbox One been hit and miss since December. Some of my friends i can talk to but other friends can't hear me and i cannot hear them and this is all in the same party. The Mic symbol doesn't even show up so you know its party
chat not the connection. In-Game chat works fine.

Then other times like now, me and a single friend can not hear each other in party chat, it always worked fine in the past. I have Open Nat so even if the are strict or Moderate i can connect to them.

So i am just waiting for some official statement from MS about all the Party Chat problems since they never mention it on the Live Status even though its constantly having problems. People cut in and out in party chat randomly sometimes for no reason.

 

It's likely going to be the controller -- or the chat adapter if you have one of those.

One thing to try is to go to Settings > Kinect & Devices > Devices & Accessories and select your controller, then reassign it to yourself and see if you can now be heard in party chat.

Alternatively, do you have another controller (including chat adapter if applicable for older-model controllers) you can test on, or could you borrow one from a friend?

Thanks maxen for your reply. I did test my friends controller and headset and it worked on his but not on mine.

 

Was that with your headset and console, and his controller? If so, it's your controller (or chat adapter) at fault.

 

It was with his and it didn't work on mine but on his. I also bought a new mic and I used my other controller and the result was still the same. My Turtle Beach is also wireless so the chat adapter wasn't used.
