Party chat NEEDS THIS!

Recent updates have helped in terms of not having to turn Party Chat on but what really annoys me is how difficult it is to accept an invite! On 360 when a mate invited me to party and game I could just press the Xbox button and hit accept so why on earth
on a new console do I have to:

• Hold Xbox button to launch notifications
• Turn controller back on because the above doesn't work
• Leave my game
• Go to notifications centre
• Wait
• Wait
• Accept invite
• Wait
• Wait
• Pointlessly have the party app open
• Unsnap Party App
• Wait
• Wait
• Get back to gaming

This is ridiculous, this is the Xbox One, you should have taken what you had done brilliantly and what put you better than PS for online gaming. Party joining should be as simple as:

• Invite appears on Screen
• Say "Accept Invite" or alternatively press Xbox Button, Press A to accept
• Join party in background from whatever you're currently doing

Sort it out!

Party chat will only be available to live players. To chat with cross network gamers the app would probably need to implement some sort of voice or party function.

 

Xbox One Mic or Controller Issue

By any chance are you trying to use it in party chat? With party chat, you need to go into it and physically turn on party chat for it to work. Hope this helps!

I concur, it's a bit slow.

What I usually do is use Xbox Glass on my smart phone. That works a lot faster.

It's an good option until Microsoft increases the speed.

Seems like they ARE intact addressing some of these issue and there's a patch coming soon.

Ah good idea, I'll get that up! What really grinds my gears is just how convoluted it is, if you're already playing a game when a friend invites you to chat it's a nightmare!

When you see the toast to join a party, try saying "Xbox, launch" that will launch party app and put you into the game lobby if it was a party/game invite. You have to do it as soon as you see the toast, you have maybe a second or two. There's another
thing you can say I just can't find the thread back where it was brought up. This will still snap the party app so if you're in a game and say "xbox launch" get ready to say "xbox switch" to put focus back on your game, but it saves some button presses .

 

Managed to track down the old thread, I haven't used these two myself but apparently they will work as well:

When the notification toast is on screen, currently the commands are:

"Xbox, Accept and play" - to join the party and game session

"Xbox, Accept chat" - to join only the party chat.

If anyone gives them a try let us know how they work out, I'm just in the habit of saying "Xbox, launch" and I can't break it .

No problem, hope it works out for you. It was still active as of the last April preview update we received last night (which is the final build for general availability) so it should still be in place .
