Party Chat in the same apartment building not working?

Does anyone have any issues with party chat with people in your same apartment building or dorm? My friend an I can't ever seem to get party chat to work unless some other third party person opens it up for us. Directly connecting doesnt work. Both of our
nat's are listed as opened. We can't even seem to get the new AW system to allow us to play in the same games let along party chat, we could join the same destiny game but no chat... so frustrating

Also, we did the test MP Connection and then the trigger/bumper test and it came back as an open cone NAT. Both the IP Address from the router matches what I get when I try to ID my ip address from one of those external websites.

I'm out of ideas. I'm assuming it has to do with the fact we both live in the same high rise and source our internet from the same provider. We both have our own routers though.

Disappointment

It would be something like if you lived in an apartment, and paid rent, while your neighbor across the hall, in the same building, got to live there for free. Additionally, you find out that the same utilities are provided for both apartments. You wouldn't
wonder about that at all?

you have the same IP? If yes - you need to get help from the Network Admin of your Buliding's Network. You should not connect with the same IP to the Internet. Maybe he can do something.

It could be possible that it will work if you IPv6. But you have to ask your Network admin if you can connect with IPv6.

 

So it's the same Internet Provider (DirectPath - an offshoot of directv) but definitely not the same internet protocol (IP) address, just not sure what you mean by IP.

Why wouldn't the same Internet Provider work? presumably people with FiOS for instance can all play together right?

 

Oh I misunderstood - i thought you have a plug in the wall and get the same IP like your friend

Do you have a router where you connect?

 

Yes, we both have routers, i have the asus 'dark knight' router and he has a linksys. At one point I ended up connecting to my phone while it was set up as a hotspot just to see if we could get it to work and it allowed for him to hear my voice but i still
couldn't hear him. All our chat functionality seems to work fine with other people outside of the building.

 

It's possible that it have to do with teredo Port.

My Brother had the same Problem. He could hear only some of the players but not all.

Since he also port Forwarded UDP Port 3544 (Teredo) all Problems are gone. He can now hear everyone.
