    Parental Security Flaw - Accessing Netflix Without Logging In


    Hello. So here's the situation. I have my son set up with a child profile and I have Netflix (and Youtube) blocked from use when he is signed in. But I discovered that he was still able to access these apps when he signs out of his profile. He signed
    out of all accounts, and he was still able to use Netflix. He also has sneaked watching DVDs/BluRay in the middle of the night. Not that I have an issue with him watching movies, but I don't want him losing sleep, and I need to restrict his screen time because
    he can get obsessed with watching stuff for too long, like a lot of kids do.

    Is there a way that I can essentially make the Xbox "useless" unless it's signed in to an account? I have gone through several of the security settings and nothing seems to lead me in that direction. If all he has to do is sign out of his profile to use
    these apps, then what's the point?

    I'm sure there must be other parents experiencing this issue, and I hope that I can bring this to their attention if they need it. Microsoft has taken great steps towards improving parental control features, but, unless I missed something, this seems like
    a major oversight.

    Netflix freeze

    Gentlemen, when we go to netflix after logging into the One, and open the app, it freezes the majority of the time. However, if we go to netflix without logging in, and it asks us to log in, it functions properly.

    As far as I'm aware you can only lock down accounts and not the console as a whole. Maybe try reaching out to Xbox Live support on Twitter or Facebook? They may be able help further.

    Hi, thank you for your quick reply,

    I am still concerned that when the security settings are set to defaults it reverts back to the original password.

    It also seems to be possible to change the parental controls without password prompting, I believe this is because there is a password to enter the live account at initial sign in and thereafter most settings can be changed - which is understandable - however,
    I would like to be able to secure parental settings yet still provide access to the xbox so that games can be played or netflix can be viewed.

    The same default password is in effect for the Netflix app and even though I have changed the main xbox live password (the 4 digit number using the control pad) the Netflix 4 digit password has remained the same. This means that if an 18 certificate film
    is requested to be viewed when the prompt comes up the old known password can be used.

    Will Netflix update to the new password?

    I will tinker with the Xbox some mor eand get back to you!

    Hey Mannen, I'm really sorry to be the one to say this, but without the information (e-mail, and password to the Parental account) there's no way to access the different security features or account management features without it. That includes accepting
    the Terms & Conditions!

    Suggestions...

    My suggestion is to create a parent child assignment feature so that you can control not only access but payment options. In other words, when a child wants to buy something it emails/texts the parents account which could automatically approve/bill or reject
    without giving access to information that should be private. This should also allow a passkey/additional code for purchases. If they have access to the account (approved or not), you should be able to add a secondary security code as an additional security
    measure.
