Parental privacy controls

When I try to change the privacy setting of my xbox microsoft account I keep getting sent to a page detailing how an adult needs to log into their account and change the settings from there. The problem is I'm over 18 and have never had another account
linked to mine. How do I resolve this?

I don't think it was ever set as a child account. There's no way my parents could've figured out how to do it. I'll try contacting support if I can't figure it out. Thanks

Xbox accounts go by the date of birth entered when setting up the account.

if that shows that you are under 18 then you will need to get a parent to create an Adult account then create a Family Group, add you to it and then set your permissions and privacy settings.

Did you ever make your account a child account? There was no one else who could of linked your account to an adult account (parents are smarter than you think)? If this is a problem and you cannot seem a work around to solve this. I would contact Xbox
support and see if they can do some work around on this.
