Parental Controls

Microsoft should create dynamic easy to navigate parental controls that can be accessed online OR create a simple way to set the console to time out after 2 hours. SEVERAL studies have shown that children are damaged by having being exposed to more than
1-2 hours a day of screen time. But Microsoft has created the convoluted passkey scenario that you have to be physically present to navigate...we absolutely monitor their play when we are home but there are times tweens are being watched by older teens in
the home and neither is going to self-police use time ALSO lots of family’s are divorced and rules at one parents house can be lax and so parents that prioritize limiting screen time need to be able to set a timer to have the console time out after 2 hours
either on the console one-time so you don’t have to be there OR online. This is a no brainer and its bizarre Microsoft hasn’t done this to help parents with this chronic problem. We want the kids to be able to play after they have finished their homework until
dinner is ready but we aren’t there until we get home from work to navigate that so we need easy time out programming at the console level or online control. We are the ones paying Microsoft for all this technology…Microsoft should respect that and help parents
navigate these systems with simple tools that are reflective of the modern day.

Get $1 cloth bag from walmart. grab controllers in morning. Place controllers in bag. Place bag in trunk. Go to work. problem solved. If split home, deal with it. You can NOT control the actions of the other parent. I would insert rant about ex mother in
law but I will not.

 

I like the suggestion. I think I've seen this on other platforms (wiiu, perhaps?).

Parental controls have been a selling feature of technology for a decade or so, so I'm surprised by the reaction from others.
