Parental Controls are a joke

I have used Xbox parental controls for years for my son’s account. They are confusing, buggy, and are totally inadequate. ,Microsoft support has basically told me that “not many people use the parental control features” so they really don’t make efforts
to improve them. After limping along with “work arounds” for YEARS, I have come to realize that is my son does a console reset, he can open a new account without any restrictions, thus rendering parental controls completely obsolete. Please someone tell me
I’m wrong about that! If not, how can I prevent an unauthorized reset on the console?!?

You are still a child in the xbox world - you parents would need to raise you level on Parental Controls.

Regardless of consoles or pc ANYONE can create an non child account

A console is not a babysitter

He doesn't need to use a console reset

Parental console settings only affect child account

It is up to you to supervise your child's use

Ask any police officer who's responsibility it is

 

^This! Nowadays, parents want to make the computer, phone, console... whatever, be the "bad guy" when it comes to keeping their kids in line.

If that fails to do the job, then the parent wants to blame the manufacturer. I call BS. There comes a point when the parent has to step up and be the bad guy rather than relying on the device to do it for them. If I had done something like reset a console
to bypass parental settings when I was a kid, my dad would've given me one look and told me if I did it again, there'd never be another console in the house. He'd have meant it... and I knew it.

If a kid is trying to break the rules by finding ways to bypass filters, the problem isn't with the device.
