Parent Microsoft account being invalid and trying to change it

A few months ago I tried to sign in to xbox live and a message telling me that the parent account that was linked to my xbox live account was invalid. The message led me to a page where I was supposed to enter a new parent account with the password, which
I did. After the long process and confirming the terms and conditions a message popped up saying “xbox sign up is currently unavailable. Please try again later”. Its been several months since and I’ve tried again and again since, yet it still doesn’t work.
I have a lot of content downloaded on my xbox live account which requires me to sign into xbox live to use, why has it taken Microsoft this long to fix the problem?

    :)

    Updating my "terms of use"

I tried to log on to my xbox live account and it said I need to agree to the new terms of use. I click ok and it comes up with my parents email and a space for password. I get them to fill it in and apparently the password is invalid so we change it and
apparently its still invalid - when its clearly not. It says I need to sign in to Microsoft account to accept the terms of use. I thought that my Microsoft account would be my email not my parents and I've tried logging in with that (online not on the console
as it won't let me edit the email) and it is still "invalid." Also, I can't change or look at my settings as I can't access my account. Please help me, Thanks.

  3. My account is put in a family as a child with no adult.

I have the exact same problem and my 360 account is locked due to a nonexistent parent account being invalid.

Parent Microsoft account being invalid and trying to change it

    Hello Netherlord20,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Was the family established on an Xbox One, Xbox 360 or Windows 10 device? We recommend checking the

    family settings
on the Microsoft website. The link will work best on a mobile device or computer. Make sure you are signed in to the parent account. We want to find out if the child account, the one you use, is associated with the parent account in a family.
Be sure to let us know the results!

    Terms of use problem

Please try the steps above. If you are unable to accept the terms on the Xbox and it's saying that your parental password is invalid, then please contact the Microsoft Account team, as stated above.

    Error Code 801540FE

I had this issue when I accidentally deleted the parent account (though I restored it later).

    My solution (Xbox 360):

    1. Re-link the child account to a parent account on Microsoft family (parent account's age must be over 18), if not yet linked. Ensure that when the child account is added to the Microsoft's family system, the child account is added as a child.

    2. Ensure that the child account s age is under 18

    3. Ensure that the child account does not possess any payment options (credit card, debit cards etc.). If so, remove all payment options.

    4. Set up the parent account's Microsoft Account options to ensure that it is a valid account. If possible, also try to add a payment option for the parent account.

    5. On your Xbox, delete any profiles associated with your parent and child account (Main menu > Settings > System > Storage > Hard Drive > Profiles > (Select profile) > Delete)

    6. Sign in to the parent account on your Xbox, followed by the child account.

I believe this issue has nothing to do with an invalid parent account, in fact I think it s caused by an invalid CHILD account, just that the Xbox error handler doesn't have an error for invalid child account. I tried to tackle this problem before by using
another Microsoft parent account, but that didn't work, so I changed the CHILD account s settings and viola!

Not quite sure if the steps above can be replicated on an Xbox One, but the fundamental concept should remain the same (modify child account).

Child account unable to accept new Terms of Use

    Hello,

If you are getting a loop when accepting to terms and conditions on Xbox.com, and if your being told your password is invalid on the console then please
try to reset your parental password again. If that doesn't work either, then try to post on the
Microsoft Account Team forums and ask them for some assistance in regards to the invalid password (though you can login to Xbox.com)
