Parent listed as child on xbox

Being a child your son goes to school with....why not just take the complaint to their parent? The parents can and would do far worse to the child than Xbox would. Maybe the parents won't do anything, but Xbox isn't going to do much either about a kid cussing
while talking to someone who was on their friends list.

• Are you using an Xbox One console or a Windows 10 device?

• Are you getting any error messages?

• Are you using the parent Microsoft account to change the family settings?

Children and teens are restricted from changing Xbox privacy and online safety settings on their accounts. Only the parent or other adult in the Microsoft family can view or change these settings for a child account, either on a console or online. Refer

You have an option to put a passkey on your profile.

When you create a personal passkey, you get the following benefits:

• A passkey protects against a child signing in as the parent and overriding parental controls. A personal passkey prevents a child from simply clicking on the parent’s picture, signing in as the parent, and changing the child’s otherwise
  parentally controlled settings.

How to create your passkey

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Account.
3. Select Sign-in, security & passkey.
4. Select Create my passkey.
5. Enter a 6-digit passkey, and then re-enter the passkey to confirm.

Your passkey has now been set.

Since you are on a family Gold account, you will have to go to Parental Controls and set the controls to allow Xbox LIVE play on your child accounts.

Here is the section that will help you with allowing access to LIVE:

Change your child’s safety and privacy settings

1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE using an adult account.
2. Go to Settings, and then select Family.
3. Select the child account that you want to manage.
4. Go to Online Safety, and then select Change Settings.
5. Change the settings to whatever you’d like.
6. To exit, press the B button on your controller, and then select Save and Exit.
