  1. Parent account invalid for 1 child....but works for the other kids

I set up my oldest child's microsoft/Xbox live account about a month ago but it has never downloaded successfully. I receive an error message that the parent account is invalid. I can see he is listed as family when I check the account. His profile name
appears but will not let him sign in due to the invalid parent account error. I have tried to add the parent account again but this does not work - I end up getting a profiles cannot be downloaded at this time error message. However my own account does download.
Also today I set up two other kids with profiles and those downloaded without any issues and they can play Xbox live. I tried a chat session with Xbox support last weekend and they had me adjust some security settings but that did not help. Should I delete
his account and start over? Help.....he is not happy his siblings can play and he cannot!

    :)

    Error Code 801540FE

I had this issue when I accidentally deleted the parent account (though I restored it later).

    My solution (Xbox 360):

    1. Re-link the child account to a parent account on Microsoft family (parent account's age must be over 18), if not yet linked. Ensure that when the child account is added to the Microsoft's family system, the child account is added as a child.

    2. Ensure that the child account s age is under 18

    3. Ensure that the child account does not possess any payment options (credit card, debit cards etc.). If so, remove all payment options.

    4. Set up the parent account's Microsoft Account options to ensure that it is a valid account. If possible, also try to add a payment option for the parent account.

    5. On your Xbox, delete any profiles associated with your parent and child account (Main menu > Settings > System > Storage > Hard Drive > Profiles > (Select profile) > Delete)

    6. Sign in to the parent account on your Xbox, followed by the child account.

I believe this issue has nothing to do with an invalid parent account, in fact I think it s caused by an invalid CHILD account, just that the Xbox error handler doesn't have an error for invalid child account. I tried to tackle this problem before by using
another Microsoft parent account, but that didn't work, so I changed the CHILD account s settings and viola!

Not quite sure if the steps above can be replicated on an Xbox One, but the fundamental concept should remain the same (modify child account).

Family Pack child account xbox live add security issue

    Hi,

I have had 4 live accounts registered via a family pack.

The recent dashboard changes have forced each account to add secondary security information.

This has been completed for the parent account, but for each of the remaining child accounts the parents email/password combination is stated as invalid.

I dont recall setting up individual email/password combinations for the child accounts, so presume that the parents should be sufficient.

Can anyone please offer advise on how best to progress, as I have 3 kids who are climbing the walls in the absence of live !.

    Many thanks

Best way to gift a used Xbox 360?

It's great that you want to make such an amazing gift for your friend's grandson.

While others already described how to remove your account, please help your friend make an account for himself (an adult account), and a separate (child) account for his grandson.

Some (grand) parents make the mistake of using their own adult email account and let the kid play with that.

However, by using their own adult account for the kid, the kid is regarded as an adult for the console, and the parent is unable to prevent the kid from talking to internet strangers for example, or limit the playtime. Also, this prevents the kid from going
on an (accidental) shopping spree, and buying stuff from the Xbox Marketplace with the parent's credit card or bank account.

So please advise your friend, that when they create an account for his grandchild, that he (or the father of the kid) should create their own adult Microsoft Account and then a separate child account (by giving the kid's actual birthdate during account creation).

After the child account is created, the parent should then go to
    https://account.microsoft.com/family
and add the child account to their family.

That way, the parent can set permissions and privacy options to make the Xbox a safe place to play.

Additionally, this avoids later issues, where the kid would be able to access the parent's email or other Microsoft Services, if the parents let the kid play on their account. Later, you can't move the kid's gaming account away from the parent email account,
without the parent's Microsoft Account being deleted.

Setting screen time for adults/parent accounts

It is my understanding that the child accounts I have setup for my kids will transfer to adult accounts when they turn 18. This means their achievements and games purchased with the child account will now be a normal adult account.

For example, I have XXX24 setup as the parent account with child accounts YYY24 and YYY25. When YYY24 turns 18 the account is now removed from being a child account attached to XXX24 and is now a standard account keeping the gamertag YYY24 and all achievements
and digital games purchased with that account. Someday when my kid "YYY24" has their own kids it will be a parent account with new child accounts under it.

The only difference between a Parent Account and a Child Account is that one resides under the other. With the right settings, a Child Account can have the same unrestricted access as the Parent Account. My oldest child does not have any restrictions on
their account so it really is similar to a standard account.

So your kids have a child account or an adult account? They can only change settings if they account was setup as a parent account or they know the parent account password.
