Pairing a controller

Hi there Movarias67,

I thought i'd chime in as you hadn't received a response yet.

I am afraid I do not know of any sure-fire way to make a console 'forget' a controller, but from my experience it doesn't matter.

My Fiancee and I have an Xbox360 each, and they are set up next to each other so that I can play on the 'main' TV, while she plays on a smaller TV with headphones.

We have a bunch of controllers for when our friends come over at weekends, and we will play on my console to utilise the bigger TV. When we do that, she usually wants to use her own (Pink) controller.

The result is that we will sync her controller with my console while people are round, and then she will resync it back with her own console afterwards.

We have never had any negative effects from this, never had any scrambled signals or both consoles being affected at the same time etc.

...and I would stress, the consoles are less than 2 feet apart.

So I really don't think you have anything to worry about, and you should be able to sync the old controller with the new console without any negative effects.

Thanks for the reply, but I have already tried these methods. It's strange because it pairs up fine to my sons console

Have you tried pairing using both the wired and wireless method? I have copied the details to both below.

Connect wirelessly

1. Turn on your Xbox One.
2. Insert AA batteries (or rechargeable batteries from the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit) into the controller.
3. Turn on your controller by pressing the Xbox button , located in the middle of the controller near the top. The Xbox button will flash. When the button stays lit, the controller is connected.
4. Press the bind button on your Xbox.
5. Press and hold the controller's bind button (a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times (that means it's searching
   for a console). The Xboxbutton  stays lit once it's connected.

Connect using a USB cable
Depending on the type of controller you have, plug the micro-USB or USB-C cable into the power port on the back of the controller then plug the other end of the cable into your Xbox.

Thanks HooksaN I really appreciate it I will give it a try. I know when I had let my roommate use one of my controllers and finally got his fixed, when I would use it, it would turn his Xbox in his room on as well as mine since it had already been paired
with mine before hand. I'll give the re-pair a try. Thanks again!!!

Ok, a couple of other things to try are:

New batteries

Power Cycle Xbox - (To power cycle the Xbox, press and hold the power button on the front of the console for 10 seconds, wait for the console to completely power down, and then
turn it back on.

Count connected controllers - If eight wireless controllers are already connected, you can’t connect another one until
you disconnect one.

Remove accessories from your Xbox - Some USB devices, including incompatible
or defective USB cables, can interfere with wireless signals. Unplug all USB devices connected to your Xbox or PC (wireless hardware, external hard drives, other wired controllers, keyboards, and so on). Restart your Xbox or PC and try connecting the controller
again.
