Painfully Slow Downloads

Hi All,

I purchased an Xbox One yesterday with Gears of War and in 24 hours haven't been able to play any games due to the download speeds of content from the marketplace. I'm currently on 11% of Gears, 37% of Ground Zeroes and everything else is in a queue behind
it.

I have done a few detailed network tests which show download speeds of between 29-45Mbps and upload of between 7-11Mbps. I am downloading via Wi-Fi but have a 100% connection to the router... I regularly download from Steam on my laptop which never takes
more than a couple of hours to download a large 20-30Gb game. This is absolutely awful service from Microsoft and if it doesn't improve I will be taking it back for a refund and picking up a PS4 instead. After paying £330 for it with a 2nd controller I feel
waiting over 24 hours to use it is a bit extreme.

PAINFULLY slow download time

So this isn't the first time this has happened, but today is the most recent. At 7 am this morning I started downloading the Revolution map pack for Black Ops 2. After an hour and a half it was only at 30%, and I had to leave for work. So I made sure
Background Downloading was enabled and shut my xbox off. After I got home roughly 12 hours later, it was at 82% complete. I've tried downloading other stuff in the past and had similar issues. It took something like 20 hours once to download a 1.7 gig demo.



Our isp isnt great (speedtest reads 1.5 Mbs down, 1 Mbs up), but I don't have any issues like this on my iPad, laptop, PC, etc. The 360 is on a wired network. Port 3074 is open. I'm not sure what to do, but this is incredibly aggrivating. Before we moved
a couple years ago this same xbox on a similar isp would download data in an eight of the time it is now. Any ideas how to help address this? Thanks.

Well i hate to say but that connection is really slow. You should upgrade as soon as you possibly can. I have 18 up and 5 down or something close to that and it takes me one hour to DL a 1.5 g download. I'm really surprised your download speed is so low
are you using dial up.

You can try hardwiring your Xbox to your modem by use of an Ethernet cable. Besides that you will simply need to upgrade your speeds through your isp

 

The download speed shown is in Megabits which means your actual speed is 3.6mb/s-5.6mb/s. Gears of war ultimate edition is roughly 44.42GB. Have you been downloading anything else while downloading the game because depending on your internet data plan with
your ISP downloading on one device can lower the download speed on another.

Even buying a different console will not change anything because if your download speed is low to begin with there's not much you can do

It's best to post this in the networking forums instead, there might be some tweaking you can do on your router to improve download speeds.
