    Sorry? If that was the case, Why are EA not using the "FREE SERVERS" for COD, Battlefield, FIFA, NEED 4 SPEED. ETC, and many other games that. It's amazing how all these companies that want to save money when making a game, DO NOT CHOOSE Microsoft
    servers....... So either the servers are not as free as expected, or that Microsoft want too much control over the servers.

    I don't know whether you read my post or not, because i did state that the Azure is probably the best servers in the world, and that Microsoft could make money from it, even if it was on another platform, but just offering the service out. But don't think
    for one second that Sony doesn't have dedicated servers they can use, get, or rent from companies because they do already.

    And as Titanfall is an EA Published game, and they provide the Servers for the majority of their games already. Do you think that they would lose money, by making a game for the rest of the console market, and running the servers themselves. When they can
    have access to more customers.

    At least think it through. I remember when they said Mass Effect was an Xbox Exclusive, and would never be on the the PS3. But low and behold. It did. If a company wants to make money, they will go with the largest demographic, and that is as many people
    as possible. Which is why Titanfall is on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC, and is not a single console exclusive

    When the first Mass Effect came out Bioware was an indie dev,just after the game release,EA bought Bioware and every IP they own.

    Right now,Respawn and Titanfall,is a completly different story.

  3. Okay, Tzar, Because EA, are not out for making any money, any way they can. I did not say it would come out for the PS4, But gave an example of a company releasing a game that everybody said would never be made for it, but the discussion is about Titanfall

    Rippen - Looks like you were wrong "Hairy you are still not quite getting what MS are offering. The last 20 people playing say" luvspuds awesome adventure" may on Friday log in for a MP match and the servers allocate a server for that region/regions.
    The next day no one is playing luvspuds so that server doesn't dial up and is being used for Rips classic teabagging marathon. A week later people want to play luvspuds again and a server is made available again. it's not keeping a server open and solely for
    the purpose of one game, it's just info on the service that can be used whenever there are players that want it.
    And no developer will go for P2P when dedi is free."

    So it would seem, my arguments, were not as far out of the window as some of the staunchest server defenders thought. I am a realist, and take everything someone says (especially someone who is trying to sell you a product) with a pinch of salt. As,

    Its commonly found with a few key google searches, that Sony tried to get Rackspace to help out with there needs using Openstack to provide dedicated servers for their games, as they knew P2P is very limiting, and you would have to host a server the AI calculations
    and render the game, which would limit multiplayers to a small handfull of real players. It was even announced but then taken down when Sony pulled out of the deal because they could not pay the bill. Still think they could make dedicated servers for TF ?

    *Edit update, looks like they still using OpenRack and Amazon for storage and cloud options. I wonder how much that costs to rent servers, then owning them.

    I think @Hairy makes a valid point - it would depend on EA....as it is they that would be providing the dedicated servers.

    I think though by the time T2 comes out there will be so many other great games that it won't be quite the "console seller" that T1 is.

    Personally I think when a game becomes multi-console it loses "something" - hopefully Respawn think so too. Either way, not going to worry about something that is 2 years away.

    To be honest I have no clue how it all works but I remember reading an article that I saw posted on Twitter ( I'll try and find the link again ) saying Sony would have trouble running Titanfall.

    I got to admit if this is true then how come it will run on the Xbox 360? unless there's a difference between the 360 and ONE versions, I don't mean graphically but what's going on in the background so to speak with the servers?

    As I said, personally I don't have a clue but I will try and find the link again.

    It will depend of Respawn....

    Respawn own Titanfall IP.

    After Titanfall,Respawn can create a new IP or a Titanfall sequel and being publish by "who ever they want to".

    It is a number of factors. As if Microsoft servers are the only servers, it's whether EA, want to supply the servers themselves. EA, supply most of the servers for most of their games themselves. If it is a viable money making effort, they will do it. Again
    Realist attitude.

    EA, could either say to Sony, reduce your license fee for every game sold from $8 to $4, whereas Sony would still make millions, and EA, would make even more, which will be used on their own dedi servers. Or Sony would say, We will purchase/hire servers
    from either Microsoft/Google/Amazon, etc and host them for you, but still take our normal cut.

    I know people want a specific game to stay on a platform, and that is all well and good. But Microsoft is not the be all and end all of server providers out there. And if a company like EA, wants to make money, They will do it. It is that simple.

    Because that his how their "model" works - EA provide the dedicated servers for BF4.

    So it proves they are capable and willing to do so for other IPs such as T2.

    Games like Battlefield (made by Dice), Need For Speed Rivals (Ghost Games), Call Of Duty Ghosts (Infinity Ward), FIFA 14 (EA Canada), Madden 25 (EA Tiburon).

    It is EA that provides the servers, or sets how the game will be run, in a profit orientated way, It is their duty to make money for themselves and their shareholders. There is a correlation. The same with most games. It is normally the Publisher that provides
    the servers, expense wise. It is their servers. Once the Dev has made the game. The publisher takes over.

    EA is ONLY the publisher of Titanfall.

    Next Respawn game might not be publish by EA.....

    The issue isn't only the Azure servers, the issues is also how much of the newer Cloud libraries they are using, eg if they are using the same AI library that forza is using, in that case its owned by MS and they wouldn't be able to use that for PS, thats
    just an example nothing more.

    yes they could build their own, but thats isn't going to be easy or cheap.

    XO 360 and PC are all built on MS technology, I guess the azure has been built with that in mind which is why the 360 can use it, but I am just guessing.

  14. No, EA are only the publisher, But the Publisher will likely keep the rights to the Name of the game, any future sequels and extras

    Take Need 4 Speed by EA. That has quite a few different Developers but EA has always been the Publisher.

    The same with Call Of Duty - Infinty Ward, Treyach, Spark Unlimited, Grey Matter. Many developers One game, and Activision as the publisher.

    Again, There are quite a few franchises that have different developers, but the same publisher, or a company will buy a developer and make them their own, just to own a franchise, Take Ubisoft, Buying Redlynx, for Trials. It will have the same Dev for this
    incarnation, but it will upto Ubisoft if they keep the same team.

    Halo is another classic - Publisher Microsoft, but devs are Bungie, Ensemble Studios, and now 343. The name normally stays with the Publisher, as they tend to create the contract and supply the funds to create the games

    Respawn got the same publishing deal that Insomniac got for Fuze....

    It was under something called EA partnership (something like that).Last year EA close EA partnership,their last contract is with Respawn for Titanfall (and only for this game).....

    After Titanfall,Respawn is free,they own Titanfall IP and can be publish by someone else and do another game,even a new Titanfall.
