    P90X for Xbox Fitness Review

I've just completed my 3rd week with P90X for Xbox Fitness. Check out the link above for my video review (with super awesome exercise demonstrations for lulz). For those of you that have no interest in high quality, well rehearsed (at least 3 times) review
videos, or if you simply like to read... keep reading.

    What is it?

    P90X for Xbox Fitness is a 30 day workout program designed by Tony Horton, creator of the P90X series of workout videos, specifically for Xbox One. The program consists of 5 separate workouts;
    1) Chest, Shoulders & Arms 2) Fighter X 3) Legs, Back & Core 4) Power Cardio 5) Total Core

Each of these workouts are full body workouts with an emphasis on giving you a great cardio workout while strengthening the rest of your body. You won't do a whole lot of running or jumping in place, but I guarantee you will sweat buckets during all 5 of the
    workouts!

    What do I need?

Aside from money (more on that later), you don't "need" anything. All of the workouts can be done isometrically (without weights, just squeezing the muscles). However, for a better workout, you may want to consider purchasing some small weights or bands. If
you were only to buy one, I would recommend getting a cheap set of bands as all of the "weight" exercises can be done with bands (whereas some of them can use weights, but not all).

How much room do I need?

Because these routines were designed specifically for the Xbox One, the workouts you'll be asked to do can all be done comfortably in your living room. All you'll need is approximately your height both forward and side-to-side from your TV. I'm 6'2" so I need
basically a 6'2" x 6'2" space to do all the workouts. I also have very low ceilings so the fact that there aren't a lot of jumping exercises is a godsend (I have scars on my knuckles from hitting the ceiling during other workouts).

What is the difference between this and P90X3?

The basic P90X3 program is 16 videos that are 30 minutes each for a total of 8 hours of content. You also get Fitness and Nutrition Guides along with the videos for a total cost of $120.00 for the full 90 day program.

P90X for Xbox Fitness is $60 for the aforementioned 5 videos which total just over 3 1/2 hours of content. There are no guides that come with it at this time, though I have heard that a Fitness Calendar will be released soon as a companion to the program.

So you're paying slightly more per hour and you don't receive those guides, but you do get the Kinect feedback (which is huge!) and the Xbox Fitness scoring system and challenges.

    Should I buy it?

Like almost all workout video programs, it depends on what you want from it. If you're looking to get super strong and build a large upper body, I don't think this program will get you there on it's own. There isn't a lot of heavy weight work and the upper
body workouts are mostly push-up based.

If you're looking for a cardio-centric workout that doesn't involve a lot of running (I HATE running). Then this is definitely for you. You're going to strengthen everything while working up a ridiculous sweat... and it's WAY more interesting than running IMO.
This program works your abs so much, yet you don't realize it because you're focusing on 3 different muscle groups at once during almost every exercise. Your lower back and abs are going to get a great workout in all of these workouts.

So there's my opinion of the program. Feel free to post your own experiences or comments about this really exciting addition to the Xbox One. Thanks everyone!

    :)

Nice review, thanks for sharing. Did the first P90X for Xbox Fitness workout over a week ago and really liked it. After a bit of a break because I was doing labor intensive work on the house anyway, back to finishing the rest! P90X for Xbox Fitness Review :)

Just tested it, the nutrition guide and calendar linked above work fine for me.

But you can get them the conventional way too. In your Xbox Fitness library go to P90X for Xbox Fitness, there will be a button that says 'Free Extras' (or something along the line Free Downloads, forgot what exactly). Hit that button, it will open Internet
Explorer on your Xbox. The page will ask you for your emailaddress, when you fill it out you will be mailed a download link some time after. Although it can take some time. When I did it it took more than an hour to get the email.
