In order to install games to your drive from the Xbox app your selected drive needs to be formatted in "NTFS". You can check the type of drive formatting by heading to File Explorer> This PC> Devices and Drives. From here right click the drive you are curious about and scroll down to "properties" . From here you should be able to see how the drive is formatted. If it is not NFTS you will need to reformat the drive in order to install games from the app.
