Owning both disc and digital copies of a game?

If you already own a physical disc copy of a game, and then purchase a digital copy:

would they co-exist on the same console as 2 separate entities?

would one take precedence over the other?

what about the game saves?

It would still show on the console as 1 entity since the game data is the same on both. I believe the digital license takes over so it'll check your digital license even if you have the disc in the drive.

Game saves are separate from game data, but you would still be using the same save data whether you're playing digitally or from the disc.

Hi, did you own the disc copy or the digital copy of Halo Wars? If it was a disc copy that you owned, then if you still have the disc, then insert the disc and install it like any other game. If you don't own the disc, then you will need to purchase the
game again.

You would both need your own copies of the disc or digital version of you have 2 separate consoles.

Cross-play works for both physical and digital. If you own the disc on Xbox One, you can play with people who are on Windows 10.

However, what you don't get with a physical disc is ownership of the game on Windows 10 - that's only with the digital copy of the game.

You can do both! Just remember, if you have a game disc then you can install and run the game using the disc. If you don't have a disc, you can purchase the game from the Xbox Store right from your console or from the Xbox website. Just to clarify, owning
the game on disc does not entitle you to a digital copy/download of the game. 'Digital copies' will have to be purchased from the Store before you can download and play them, even if you already own that game on disc. Digital copies once purchased can be downloaded
as many times as you want, whenever you want. Hope this makes things clearer!
