    Own Minecraft Xbox one edition (disc) and want better together update of minecraft


    i own minecraft xbox one edition on the disc and i read that if ive played over 5 hours or buy a dlc, i should get the "better together" update for free until the 30th of January 2018

    ive played over the 5 hour mark and have bought a dlc and its still trying to charge me for minecraft.

    wondering if im missing a step or if its on a time frame for it to be free

    If you're trying to upgrade the disc version then that is correct. It's currently only free to users who own it digitally.

    Hey Benjamin,

    Are you referring to the Better Together Update and the current Minecraft version using the Bedrock engine?

    If so, the window to update to that version from the disc version of Minecraft Xbox One Edition has passed. The update released in September of 2017 and the window to update ended on January 30th, 2018.

    We understand that you currently own Minecraft Xbox One Edition on your Xbox One console.

    Do you currently own the disc version of Minecraft, or do you own this digitally?

    The feature of cross-platform gaming was introduced through the Better Together update when the original Minecraft Xbox One Edition
    became just Minecraft.

    Thanks for keeping us updated with your replies. If the version of Minecraft you're using on disc is the Minecraft: Xbox One edition, then to update to the new Minecraft (Better Together), you'll need to purchase the game as it is a wholly different version.
    The free update from Minecraft: Xbox One edition to the new Minecraft edition (Better Together) ended on January 30th 2018.

    Hi, if you have the Minecraft Xbox One disc version then sadly that offer of a free upgrade to the Better together version no longer applies and you will need to buy Minecraft again.
