Overwatch: Origins Edition. Who's actually playing this?

The hype is thick, and journalists are inventing topics to keep talking about the game. But who of you actually purchased and played the game? The beta doesn't count. The beta popularity doesn't mean anything when it comes to the final game.

I'm skeptical that it has won people over, especially on the full-price console edition. Only 1 to 2 per cent of my Xbox Live Friends are playing, which is next to none (no offence intended to that person). Also, it's one week after the release and I'm not
seeing any press releases bragging about sales performance.

How many people are playing on your friends list and sales performance are not indicators of a good or bad game, imo.

Personally I haven't bought into it, I'm not doubting that it might be a solid game, but it's just not for me.

 

It is important because having people you know (or at least familiar) is a factor in game enjoyment because the game is designed for team play.

It gets worse. Those who are my friends have also stopped chasing multiplayer games. For the last three years I've been trying to tantalize them into playing games that I think we would all like, but they're not biting.

Gears of War 3 Horde Mode and Dragon's Crown (PS3) have been the best multiplayer games I've ever played. I've played Halo and others, but they aren't memorable to me.

 

As per the link in the second message, I added further comments. In a nutshell, I played a couple hours tonight, I've seen the whole of the game and other than the option to play against AI this has turned out to be just another multiplayer. It does not,
and it can not change what's wrong with PvP multiplayer. As such everyone is pulling the wool over your eyes to suggest that it is a full-price game and that it is for everyone. That is a baloney sandwich.
