    Overwatch 2 sessions only for series s/x


    For whatever reason I can no longer join friends' sessions (I'm on xbox one, friends on series s). Friends who are on the exact same platform can join the session. Yesterday we played together without problems. Is this a new feature that we can turn on/off somewhere? (regular crossplay is turned on for all of us). Tried restarting the game and consoles but that didn't help.

    Finally had time to try some of these steps, but it seems the issue has resolved itself since I was now able to join my friend's session without issue! Thanks for the reply either way and I hope you have a great day.

    I'm having the same problem; I think it's actually a problem with Blizzard Entertainment, this wasn't a problem before. Yesterday (10/19/22) the game was displayed as overwatch origins edition, today (10/20/22) it is now labeled as overwatch 2, meaning there was probably an update. Me and my friends had no problems playing with each other yesterday, and today we aren't able to play with the same person who has a Series X, while we all have Xbox One's.

    If you try playing multiplayer in a different game the issue persist or is this happening only with overwatch 2?
    Can you try using a completely different WiFi network to see if that helps?

    Or, can you try re-adding your friend to see if you can join them in that way?

    In the meantime, did you tried power cycling the console?
    1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.
    Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

    After that, try to remove and re-add your profile on the console.

    Also disconnect your router from power for about 3 minutes. Then connect it again an when everything is working, try again
