Overdue Subscription and Game pass doesnt work

I myself have had the same situation happen, and to be honest it freaked me out. May I ask you, do you have reoccurring billing enabled? I was not able to pay for another subscription until I turned off recurring billing to pay the remaining balance.
I'm hoping when you turn off reoccurring billing it will allow your Xbox Gold to work. Be advised though, please don't spend any more money until you've gone through a troubleshooting process.

When you say you can't use your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate do you mean you can't download the games, or can't play online? Xbox Game Pass is used for downloading certain games at little or no cost, not for online/multiplayer capabilities. You didn't waste your

In case of a past due subscription you have to sort it out before you are able to make any changes to it (and you cannot use digital codes to sort out a past due sub). An ultimate subscription includes gold, so until you manage that, you will not be able
to activate it. Right now it is the only option.

The only reasonable option is too wait out your subscription no need too waste money
