Overall thoughts on Battlefront. Recommend or not recommend?

I have a EA Access subscription, so I was able to play this game five days before it's official release. Here's my overall pros & cons on Battlefront:

Pros:

-Awesome graphics

-Silky smooth framerate

-Near perfect for Star Wars fans

-Decent amount of modes to choose from

-Includes the actual Star Wars soundtrack

Cons:

-Fairly lackluster content

-Not offering enough maps & weapons

-Gets boring after a while

-Felt like a reskin of Battlefield

-No SP campaign (let me know if DICE update this part)

Overall, this games get a whooping 6/10 (above average) for me. If you're a huge fan of Star Wars, this game will definitely do it for you, otherwise I would skip this game until it's either less than $35 or it hits EA Access vault. I'm better off just playing
Battlefield instead. Sorry EA & DICE, this game could have been better than what some of us are expecting.

Heres wishfull thinking-Battlefront3

Isn't there a demo for Battlefront 2 on the marketplace? I'd recommend checking that out before wasting your money renting or buying it!

What are your overall thoughts on this game and is this a game that you would recommend to someone who has never played it?

 

I totally agree on the reskin of Battlefield part but since I dont normally play shooters (this being an exception due to the Star Wars theme), its not a tired concept to me. I only played Battlefield a little (I am also an EA Access member) so I didn't
get worn out with what basically amounts to Star Wars BattleFIELD. The training missions could be considered a small single player campaign (I do emphasize SMALL) but, you are right. There just isn't enough of a single player side to this game. I mean, you
can do survival and missions by yourself but with the lack of progression, that does get a bit repetitive. I played the beta and the trial and actually ran out of time so I was counting the seconds to 12:01 am until I could play it again. One of the many things
I love about EA Access is the fact that the trial IS the full version. Should you purchase the game, you just keep the trial. You don't have to delete and download the game again. I would give it a 7 because of the reasons you mentioned but even Battlefield
has a single player campaign. I can't believe a Star Wars reskin of Battlefield had no single player campaign. It's not like they would have to write the story. Having the ability to play through the Star Wars story would have put this game over the top

 

It is what it is. You ether like it or you don't. Its fun too me but I'm a huge SW Fan and a big BF Fan as well. It is pretty much the same concept as BF. I'm buying it but will probably hold off on the DLC until it becomes cheaper.

 

I agree with what you said about the DLC. $50 for the season pass is a bit ridiculous

 

My only gripe is hit detection or people just don't die even though looks like I got a few headshots on them. No reason why during the beta I hogged the mounted gun turrets for easy kills.

I was lousy yesterday. Takes to many shots to take people out. Also only ranked 7 not much unlocked yet where others played they game how many hours and are high ranks and unlocked everything. They should have ranks 10 and under in our own noob lobbies
for a bit. Not playing against people with no lives ranked like 40+ already and own all the alien characters.

 

I think it is what it is. Its a casual shooter - which is kind of cool. I love Battlefield, but I hate the fact that I could not just hop in and play for 15 -20 mins at a time. COD gives you that option. BF became a chore at times (not forgetting the bugs
and glitches that still plague the single player). I can see where Battlefront could become a little boring for anyone who plays a long session. Hit detection seems a bit off - headshots mean nothing at close quarters. But all in all I think worth £40 of anyones
money. When did we get to the point that EVERY game had to be better, bigger, more perfect than the last? Movies are not and we don't lose our minds do we? Buy it. Play it. Enjoy it for what it is. Its Star Wars online for goodness sake. You can dog fight
in a Tie Fighter and shout at your enemy "it came from behind!"

 

I think its very fun! their are moments when I feel like I am in a star wars movie! I just wish there were more maps and blasters!

 

Well I agree with all the Pros and most of the Cons you said.

But I would also add the price of the game and its content to the cons, it is fairly overpriced and the pass looks even more overpriced. I really hope they add more content anytime soon, and even a better leveling progression system with more rewards and
maybe daily and weekly missions, because like you said, after a couple of hours it get boring, even if you keep changing game modes, there isn't much for you to do.

 

Graphically it's superb. But like you all mentioned its more of a casual chill game. Never had a huge party with friends yet playing it. But did have huge parties with BF2MC Bad Company 1 and Bad Company 2, BF3 and BF4 and COD4 and W@W and MOH Warfighter.
Now days on XBOX1 it seems like my buddylist is every man for himself going solo or moved onto other games I don't own yet.

Hard to get a decent group together and have fun and win. BF4 I didn't get it day one. But got it last year June but that game got lame cause everything in the game was nerfed by the time I bought it. Hardline died out fast for me. Not many friends bought
it. GTA5 got lame. Seems like I'm just going through the motions on XBOX1. Not much for excitement gaming wise. Seems like every game I buy is just a stop gap till the next big thing. But the next big game that keeps me hooked for a year or two never
arrived. Heck I got bored with Metal Gear first month.

But then again I'm 38 years old and started gaming at age 5 with Atari 2600. Maybe gamed to much and set my standards pretty high.

 

Spot on robz. I have a pile of xb1 games i just cant see myself finishing. My own fault - should be less eager to purchase new games and finish what i have. And it was such a shame Warfighter didn't work out. It was such a great idea to set the multiplayer
up that way. Desperately wanted that to work better.

 

I'm waiting for MOH Warfighter to go backward compatible then i'll be playing that again. That next list of 7 games should be almost here. Then onto the next 100 games list for backward compatibility.
