Hello,

I made an account on my son's XBox X with my own hotmail account, but I did not buy a subscription, because I don't play. My son set it up on his own microsoft e-mail with a subscription from my Paypal account. He is now able to buy all kinds of items without
me being able to control it, although I get e-mails that he bouht something. I need to change that, but I don't know how. I also want to set up screentime, but that is not possible either, because the xbox sees my sons email as the adult/main account? How
do I do that? Do I have to sign off my son and will I be able to make him the child account? Will his subscription be safe in his account?

Hey Sandra,

Thank you for reaching out. Deleting an account from the Xbox will not close it and will not cancel out any existing subscriptions. The best option would be to create a new child account and use the existing account to manage it as a parent account. This
will allow you to manage his screen time as well as set restrictions for his gaming, communication, and purchases.

Ok, I had hoped to avoid that... I found the possibility to delete his account from the XBox, but I haven't done that yet, because I don't know if his subscription to XBox Live Gold disappears with it. I haven't found the possibility to log him off and log
on with my game account that has no subscription. I was wondering if I could do that and then change everything on the accounts.

Hmmm...ok, I do remember though that we put his actual birthday in the account we made. Only I saw today that it is set up as an adult account, which could be changed to a teenage or a child account. So I changed it to a teenager account (he's 13)

I think my account also has his actual birthdate in it, but since I can't access it now, I can't check that.

I could not find the possibility to log off his account and log on with my account. Only the possibility to turn off the XBox or restart it.

He gave me his password though, after some curses

So I can do more now.

You would have to make a new account and assign it as a child account then assign it to yours.

Screen time can only be done with a child account.

However you can set up a passkey to buy stuff here.

Stuff bought on an account can not be moved sadly. As for changing his account to a child that also can not be done.

IF you want to keep a sub you can set his gamertag to home which will share anything he has bought with all other accounts.

Sadly what it sounds like, is that the best thing to do is make him a new child account and tie it to yours and set up all the parental stuff.
