Outer Worlds (PC Gamepass version) save file doesn't work when I'm signed into Xbox

I have this same problem. I started the game while my Internet was off. And yes turning back on my Internet brings back my saves but then how can I connect to Xbox live after I back out of that when it tells me it can't connect? Because I have to disable
my NIC, restart the game, load into my save, and then turn my NIC back on. So how do I force a sync after that? I can't find a menu or anything in the game to try to get it to sign me in again.

I was in the same situation on PC, here's the solution I found.

(I was online logged into the game with xbox gamer tag showing in bottom left corner)

alt+tab to file explorer window and did the following (it may work without the game open but this is what i did)

copy the save game and achievement files you want from:

C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10\__LOCAL__

paste them into:

C:\Users\<Username>\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10\<large sequence of numbers>

make the game reload the main screen by going into then out of settings.

after I did this the "continue" option appeared and my game loaded!

I think it sync with xbox live saving system...

Try to turn off internet start the game, so I think it will go back to the point you were before... Then during your gaming try to switch on your internet... So that it would sync everything

sorry to hear. Here some advice to solve your Problem:

• Check first if there are issues in your
  Region with the Live Service
• Is your system really uptodate (please check Windows update and also the Store App).
  
• Check if all 4 XBOX Services and the 2 gaming service are running (via taskmanager).
• Some games need to be installed at C:
• Try to use another DNS (for example goggle/opendns)
• Reset your Modem & Router by switching OFF and ON
• If this all fails "Try it with a clean boot"

And you normally need to be logged in because of the lizenz check and to push your game save to the cloud!!

The save file for the XBox Gamepass doesn't work with Steam. I used this information to find the files but it wouldn't work and yes I did move the files around a few times (yes I reloaded in Steam each time) to make it work but it didn't. The problem is
more than likely tied to the XBox Gamepass must use a console focused build and the Steam version plays on a PC focused build. How do I know this? Simple, when I play in the XBox Gamepass there is a build number on the lower right which says 1.0.6.0 and the
console ver is updated to that number. However, the Steam version has no build number, it's just a blank small grey square, and when I looked on the update history in Steam, the game is on ver 1.0.1, which is considered a hotfix. Sorry to be the bearer of
bad news but at least the info is out there now. I also found out that the files for the Steam ver save as .xml file and the XBox Gamepass have no file types. That is also another reason why it won't work.

TLDR: You can't use your XBox Gamepass saves from this title with a different version of the game, such as Steam.
