My Xbox one has two ports the one that is supposed to connect to the tv is broken so I was wondering if I could use the hmdi output that connect it onto the back of my Roku that's plugged into my tv? Or if that's not possible if there was any other connection passthrough way or anything I could do via adapters to get my Xbox to display on any device. Whether is is my laptop or tv. I don't care how I just want it to work without getting it repaired or changing the ports out !

    :)

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this LAALAA124

I don’t like to give bad news, but unfortunately the only option left is repair the console if the HDMI out port is the one broken

Have you tried doing an alternate port selection on your console under the advanced network settings? I was having a similar issue with my other Xbox One, and doing the alternate port selection and a power cycle resolved the issue for me.

@ Dark - I haven't actually bought a new GPU yet. Just going through my options right now. Had to buy a PC NOW with school getting ready to start. So I went out and found the best deal I could with the budget I had. I'm happy with the results. Got a
lot of PC for little cash. The cool thing is that the new PC was a necessity... the PS4/X1 is a convenience... if I really want to I could drop $400-$500 on a new GPU, as that's what I'd spend on a console... but at the same time, $150-$250 will still offer
a huge upgrade and be more than sufficient to meet my needs.

    -

Good points you're making though. There is give and take with PC vs console (exclusives, graphics, online, etc), but some things that have swayed me are: cheaper gaming (Steam sales, free to play, etc), less restrictive gaming (mods, indies, etc) and the
ability to upgrade the system in the future, as I see fit.

    -

I agree on the optimized comment, but not on "everything a PC can do an XBone or PS4 can do". It's because consoles have such limited applications that they're able to be optimized and compete with the PC market for 8-10 years per generation. They play
games and run some limited apps/content. Sure, more processing power might get squeezed out when similar hardware is compared side by side... but consoles just don't have the flexibility or massive multitasking capability of PCs.

    -

I'm not saying I'll never own a PS4 or X1... the PS4 is more likely, and the X1 is less likely (unless the kinect gets removed, but let's not go down that road, we all have differing opinions on it, and are unlikely to change). So eventually I might get
around to playing some console exclusives. But there is plenty coming out in the future on PC that will keep my interest - BF4, Elder Scrolls Online, Titanfall (huge one for me), Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassins Creed 4, etc.

    -

And it's entirely arguable that console is better for gameplay... PC's often offer more in depth controls and settings that a console just can't.

issue with that.. I believe the graphic quality is nearing the end of the long road it has been on.. you cant get much better than what is out there now.... not too many upgrades left... that is you want to upgrade.. a few $100 each release of a new GPU...
as with how the 360 was and the XB1 will be... it will be as is for years to come... $500 now today or compared to 450 +100+100+100+100+100

and again.... I like my couch.. my 48"

kind of funny and ironic that on some games while playing on my XB1, I will be using a PC as a secondary peripheral device

to add to what dark is saying, the x360 only has 512 mb of ram. try just booting up windows 7 or 8 with 512 mb of ram, let alone playing a game.

    -

i do think your premise is correct though, pc is a viable alternative and it is the one with superior graphics. around console launch its close, but over time it becomes no contest.

    -

pc is also great for indie games and all sorts of game mods.

    -

you can get some sweet input devices for pc as well, and for fps precision, there is no beating a good mouse.
