To whom it may concern -

I appreciate the simplicity you all are trying to create by rolling in the Xbox rewards with Microsoft rewards, but is there a plan to add more stock of items so I can actually redeem my gems for something worthwhile? Otherwise my 1,150 gems will convert
to 1,150 Microsoft points which is the equivalent of $1.15 versus being able to claim a $25 Visa pre-paid card.

Hello when will you be restocking the 25 dollar visa prepaid card. I see that you restocked the reward credit and controllers but the 25 dollar visa prepaid card is still out of stock.

I'm in the same position. I want to redeem my gems before I lose them. But the Rewards Credits are "out of stock".

I really don't understand how a digital item can be out of stock. There is no actual stock, it's just a matter of adding the credits to my account.

 

It's a scam. There's no "stock," they just only gave the rewards credits to the first dozen or so people to try to claim them.

 

Our gems and points will basically mean nothing now. I mean 1 gem = 1 Microsoft point... wow!
10,000 gems = an Xbox One X in the vault for xbox rewards. 10,000 Microsoft points = not quite $10 in Amazon gift cards... And not even half of
a year of xbox live. 1/2 the cost of Xbox live gold= $59.99/2=$30 and xbox one x =$499.99. So, a simple ratio should tell you 10000/500 = a gem is worth $20 and therefore a gem should be worth 20,000 Microsoft points.

I mean no wonder they decided to do away with xbox rewards because everyone that was saving up their gems were probably getting close to the high ticket items. So they decided, we can't pay out the rewards we are promising (the "rewards points
accounts payable" if you will) so let's do a "combination of rewards programs" so that what we can make the total points people have in their accounts that equals somewhere in the millions of dollars = to only thousands of dollars by using a gross undervalued
conversion rate. Huge money savings so the board and top level executives say ok that much money is worth disappointing those that saved up that much points. But then they say, just try to put the conversion rate in the fine print so not too many people realize
what we've done. They are smart, they know how to disguise an terrible thing to do to their customers as a "good thing" because we will make it more simple and only anger a small few. Also a win for Microsoft is that this rewards program and all the money
people put down as a part of it to get points was just an elaborate marketing scheme and not trying to reward anyone.

 

Your math isn't quite right here... 10000 Gems = $500 -> 1 Gem = $.05

But still, after the conversion, 1 Gem = 1 Microsoft Point, 5000 Microsoft Point = $5 -> 1 Gem = $.001, which means Gems will be worth 1/50th the value as they would be at the highest tier of the vault (and 1/20th of the lowest tier, where 250 Gems = 5000
Xbox Live Rewards Points). So, the conversion should be at least 1 Gem = 20 Microsoft points.

So yeah, unless they change the conversion it seems to me like Microsoft is basically trying to devalue their rewards currency without paying out the prizes they've been teasing (everything is still out of stock unless you want to buy an Overwatch desktop
background) and screw all of their loyal customers.

 

I have the same concern. The response i evemtually got is this:

Credits have an associated, real currency value. As a promotional program managed by Microsoft, the Xbox Live Rewards program has a limited annual budget. This means that even though this is a digital, "fake" currency as users assume, all Rewards Credits
are backed by a real currency. This is how we are able to deposit Credits as currency, as Credits have a real currency value, and these Credits are not infinite. While users like to assume since this program is run by Microsoft, our program has an infinite,
billion dollar budget, that is not the case. If we were to award an infinite amount of Credits from the vault, our program would run out of budget and not be able to Reward on any of the offers on the MyMissions page or from payback on MyVIP. This is why we
rotate different prizes through the vault beyond just Rewards Credits, and Rewards Credits are not a part of every re-stock rotation.

Gems have a value of one credit. Gems do not have a currency value, and were a brand new promotional currency added as we tested out the new Vault/MyChallenges system. They can only be redeemed for prizes from the vault. Since we recognize that users have
grown attached to their Gems, we have assigned them a value of one Microsoft Point or Rewards Credit. But as a purely promotional type of currency, they have no associated real currency value. This is why prizes in the vault tiers can and do have different
retail values; there is no "1:1 ratio" for Gems"

 

Basically what i am seeing is they made a huge mistake thinking that omg, they actually want to claim these rewards we offered. So in order to keep from going bankrupt,and to not officially go back on our word, let's make everything worthwhile and only allow
them to claim the garbage that has no monetary value. Thanks for screwing us microsoft. Guess i will just have to go back to buying discs instead of buying games digitally anymore.

 

I was just today awarded several hundred gems for my many years of Xbox Live loyalty. Thanks! I thought. Until I saw that everything worthwhile is out of stock. It's one thing to say Visa gift cards are out, but even making it unredeemable for reward credits
in this last month Xbox Live Rewards is alive is insulting.

 

Is there any update to this question from last month? I think it's a bit ridiculous we are getting notified to spend our credits/gems, when in fact, there is nothing to spend it on. I am sure most folks would want to use them on the $10 or $5 rewards credits.
How are these "out of stock" at all, considering these are digital items?

 

I have the same concerns, too, as I'm getting closer to 1000 gems. I can honestly admit I was encouraged in keeping my game pass subscription, buy digital games instead of physical copies, preorder instead of waiting for release, etc. just because I would
have collected more gems. Knowing that the program would have been canceled and my gems would have been useless, I would have spent my money somewhere else.

I understand Microsoft is free to make changes to the program, but they should have been fair with the user base and use at least a more fair exchange for gems. I'm so disappointed right now.
