    Hi everyone. I just want to complain to Microsoft about how ridiculous the out of box update takes to download. I purchased an Xbox one today with a 4 game bundle.. I was excited to get home and set it all up. 3 and a half hours later I'm still waiting on
    the out of box update to download. I have checked my internet speeds various times and am sitting on average at 22mb download speeds. WHY does it take so long to download 2gb of update. Sort your
    [Mod Removed - Please do not attempt to bypass the word filter.] out Microsoft. No one wants to buy a console and have to wait 4-5 hours until they can actually play it

    Are you getting any error messages. What happens when you test your connection through the XBOX?

    Sorry to hear your having issues with your xbox one Out of box update :( if you still have your recipt why don't you take it back to the retailer you purchased it from and see if you can get it switched.

    Well first all consoles need a day 1 update including ps4

    Especially if you want to connect to the net

    The length does depend where you are

    Your Internet connections is only one factor the hubs between also affect it if you don't live in North America you are going to be dealing with a lot of routers between you and xbox

    Also wireless signal doesn't help nor does backgrounding the update

    If one of your connecting gateways is slow it doesn't matter if your Internet speed is 22mbs you can only connect at the speed it is given

    This is the science of the net

    Plus you got 1year of updates to download as you would have to do multiple updates since launch date

    Other factors that effect speed are DNS.

    Some ISP DNS servers send all customers to the same slow download server meaning you get congestion.]

    I'm with BT in the UK and their DNS servers are pathetic. Not just for xbox one but for ps4 too. terribly slow download speeds for updates.

    If you are with BT I highly recommend changing your DNS server to openDNS or googleDNS. May even help if you are with other ISPs too.

    If you want to know how to change DNS just ask
