Other peoples' voices echo thru my mic in party chat

System Setup

Xbox One, Steelseries Arctis 5 headset, Microsoft-brand Xbox One stereo headset adapter, Xbox Insider Program (latest update installed as of Nov. 9th 2017), Elite controller (latest firmware installed as of Nov. 9th 2017)

Issue

Whenever I'm in a party chat and I don't have my mic muted, everyone else in the party can hear themselves talk thru my mic (it echoes thru my mic).

Troubleshooting Steps Taken (also, things I've noticed)

-Sound is set to only go thru the headset.

-"Use Kinect for voice" box unchecked. I never had this problem while using Turtlebeach X12s in the past. And I thought for sure that my Arctis headset worked fine before the latest Xbox Insider update came out.

-I've toyed with Headset volume, Headset chat mixer, and Mic monitoring settings to no success.

-I've tried plugging directly into the 3.5mm port on the controller (removing the headset adapter from the equation). Doesn't help.

Cry for Help

The only "solutions" I've found for this type of issue are years-old and simply tell you to make sure game volume and chat go thru the headset only. I'm hoping someone, somewhere, has figured this thing out. The main reason I got a new headset was because
my old X12s didn't have background noise correction and my cat chewed the cords. But now it's annoying the bejeebus out of me with making sure my mic is muted when I'm not talking.

I hear an echo in audio chat

I just remembered an important detail. If my friend mutes his mic in either of the aforementioned scenarios, the echo stops. In fact, as the echo happens, his ring lights up in the party chat to indicate that his mic is picking up my voice and, once muted,
it no longer lights up.

Party Echo

So, I have a PowerA 20$ Mic that echos, Now before you say "Buy a new mic" Note: It only echos when in party chat, In game chat it doesn't echo even if someone screams into their mic. My mic has a mute switch on it and when I turn mute on they can't hear
me but they are still able to hear the echo, Anyone know how to fix this party chat echo glitch?

I can't think of any other reasons why the party chat echoes, other than your headphone volume being set too high.

You'll have to turn your volume down, or somehow reposition the mic in a way so it doesn't pick up the audio of your headphones.

The only thing to be aware of when using your kinect as a mic is placement of your Kinect. The mic can pick up the sounds from your TV (ie, the game and other people chatting with you) and will allow others to hear or will echo the party chat.

it depends who is hearing the echo.

if you are hearing an echo then it is most likely that someone else in your party has their mic gain too high and has party chat through their TV or too loud in their headphones. check whose name shows when you hear the echo.

As I understand you are experiencing echo issues with your party.

First, please make sure that you are using the boom mic with the headset. Using the internal mic can cause an echo issue at higher volumes with Xbox One.

If people in your party are complaining about hearing their voice echo back or strange squawk type noises, first try adjusting your "Headset Volume" in the Xbox Guide down one notch from maximum.

If you hear everyone else in your party echo when in party chat, it is likely due to the Xbox One being set to output party chat audio to both speakers and the headset at the same time.

To change this setting:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Settings.
Select All Settings.
Select Display & sound.
Select Volume.
Select Party chat output
Select Headset

You should no longer hear the echo.
