OT: Radeon RX 480

Anybody test one of these. I am getting pretty solid results at 2160p. Seems like some games perform well enough to play max even. And with some slight adjusting I can get solid frame rate. Pretty nice deal for the price. I received mine for free but
I think the performance at $239 great. Wondering if this is the kind of jump that will help Scorpio/Neo with VR. Could help keep those consoles cheaper.

Gtx 970 or rx 480 can do VR fine and are VR ready rx 480 only costs 200 bucks son

How did you get it for free?

As for Neo and Scorpio do we know if they are using the 480?

 

It was from a friend. I used to do a lot of testing and stuff on GPUs and would provide feedback. Running these on my rigs here. But I had not been doing as much of that in the last few years. Just mostly turned it down. But I was asked if I cared this
time to do it and provide some feedback so I did.

As for the Neo/Scorpio I do not know. But it is entirely possible. I have really gotten some nice performance out of this. And the price, talking the retail, is great for this performance. I feel that maybe some tweaks will get it up there a little higher.
MS/Sony will have a custom piece for their machines I am sure. I could see them getting a little more performance, and with bulk prices, a better deal. Scorpio might just look like a real good purchase for a console.

I am still shocked at the performance I can get out of this thing. Better than some of the review I have seen. I am seeing that the little overclocking I have done is helping as well. AMD will have room to improve and I would not be shocked to see Scorpio
have something similar like this, only improved, by the time it launches.
