Original Xbox One experiencing weird issue

I've had my Xbox One since launch (2013) and it has worked perfectly fine ever since then. But the other week, it started doing this weird thing where it'll make an odd sound if I press the eject button when there's no disc in. It also does it at random
whenever there's no disc. It doesn't seem to do it, however, when there's a disc in.

But, it reads the discs just fine. Any ideas as to what it could be and if I could fix it?

That is just the hard disc turning on. It's a big machine at some point is bound to make some noise as all hard disc drives.

But why is it turning on randomly when not even pressing it? The hard disc failing or something? It's only started doing this recently.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. In this case it most likely due to the age of the console. Take a car for example, new car runs quiet and pristine. As the car ages, starts making noises where you wouldn't normally expect.

In this case if it doesn't affect the disk play and such. I wouldn't worry about it to much. As there is no fix for a random noise. Also as the console is no longer in warranty, they do not service Xbox one consoles out of warranty any longer. So you would
need to replace it if wanted a repair. Its awesome the console lasted going on 6 years.

Ah. Thank you. It doesn't do it if there's a disc in, so I may just have to leave a disc in whenever I'm using the Xbox. Other than that noise, it works fine. Feel free to lock this thread. Appreciate the info.

UPDATE: So, I've found out that the Xbox is trying to eject a disc when the disc tray is empty. I inserted Mass Effect 2 and it reads it completely fine, plays fine. And it doesn't do that noise when there's a disc in. So, looks like my solution is to just
keep a disc in the disc tray. If it starts ejecting the disc what's in, I'll get a replacement Xbox.
