Original Xbox One 4K Support what happened here!!

I bought a Xbox one a little time after launch, using a 27" monitor I played for about 6 months. Knowing the Xbox One had a HDMI 1.4a cable I trusted my Xbox to one day support 4K. In turn I turned around and got a 65" 4K TV with little to no content in
4K, waiting for the day I would get 4K in my console. Not to long after this i got a 2nd Xbox One for my Bedroom. I bought these Xboxs knowing PS4 had 4K. A lot of us have been long time fans of Microsoft and there products (The Surface series, the original
Xbox brick, even PAYING for Xbox Live service) . I myself have had Xbox Live alone for 10 Years!!! I believe that this will be a turning point for me if this console doesn't get a 4K update and I will be forced to buy Playstations. As a first and only time
poster I would like to see this thread kept alive and see if we can get a responds. Microsoft I have high hopes for you, don't let us down. After all this is only video content were talking about.

If you're going to wait for an official MS response, you'll be waiting for a long time.

Unless I'm missing something, PS4 won't have 4k support until they release the PS4.5

 

If I remember right, both consoles were released before the 4k 2.0 hdmi protocol had been finalized. The question is? Have the content providers skipped the 1.4 protocol altogether and jumped into 2.0 leaving some early hardware "high and dry"?

 

I do remember something in the early days of this generation that the current Xbox One did have the infrastructure to support 4k or maybe they were just rumours?

Yeaaaaaaaah, they didn't say WHICH, xbox one would support it though did they? So actually they have covered all bases. Just buy the new IMPROVED xbone " scorpio " because it sounds cool, and we need more money.

 

If you can afford a 65" 4K tv, then picking up and X1S should be no issue. lol. I know what you mean and I thought the same as you.

 

The cable should never have been labeled with the HDMI version in the first place. Using anything other than high speed or standard speed to label a cable violates the HDMI licensing org TOU.

In any case ANY high speed HDMI cable is capable of transmitting 4K video @ 30 fps. For HDMI 2.0 a cable needs to be rated at 18 GBs to display 4k @ 60fps of which about zero consumer content exists.

Xbox One may be able to stream 4K video from the streaming services at some point but there will never be disc playback from the included drive, the hardware isn't capable and no update can make it capable.

Good luck with the PS4 thought but I think that crowd is in the same boat. A hardware update in the form of a new console will be required for anything but streaming.

There are no loyalty rewards for being a long time Xbox Live user. After 10 years I would have thought you had figured that out.

 

This is really pessimistic of me but I believe that the ONE's in each and every household right now are 4K ready.

People just told the big companies that they'd be happy enough to splash out for a new machine rather than demand the "Future Proof console to last you 10years" as promised at launch.
